Wouldn't it be fun to have a real debate?

So... anyone on general know a thing or two about Policy Debate? I took a class or two on it, and was wondering if anyone on NSG would like to have a real debate. There'd be 2 teams of 2. Here's a potential structure:

Affirmative 1: 2,500 word 'speech'
Negative 1: 2,500 word 'speech'
Affirmative 2: 2,000 word 'speech'
Negative 2: 2,000 word 'speech'

Negative 1: 1,500 word rebuttal
Affirmative 1: 1,500 word rebuttal
Negative 2: 1,200 word rebuttal
Affirmative 1: 1,200 word rebuttal

Well, there's a possible structure. I'd greatly prefer it if you already knew about policy debate. Also, we'd need a judge (maybe even 3) that all participants agree on. Once we've got people, we can decide on a resolution, and a date.

I'm also kind of amused by the notion that what we normally do here isn't 'real' debating simply because we don't follow the structure used by a load of self-absorbed chinless wonders who like the sound of their own voice and want to get some practice in public speaking before they use daddy's connections to get into parliament*

*I lightheardly mock the great tradition of debating societies based on a single terrifying experience at school when I accidentally stumbled in on the pretentious intellectual wankery that was our debating club.

However, how to find a good judge? There's quite a chance that they'll be biased.

I wouldn't mind facilitating though (introducing the debate topic, informing the participants that it's their turn, etc.).

NSG does actually tend to have pretty good debates, considering that its on the internet and anyone could do it...

This is kind of an interest/sign up thing. The topic can be pretty much anything important (so no "Let's debate on the best type of meat"). Like I said, we could decide the topic once we have people interested.
