No kidding. How shitty would it be if we had to call these little cuties "those cats from that one place east of Mesopotamia and south of the Caspian" instead of Persians?

Lenin was no saint, either. True, he warned of Stalin in his political testament (and rightly so), and would perhaps have been less paranoid (although you never know how power would have warped him), but also quite brutal with his enemies.

Have you heard of the South?

That was the 1960's. Times have changed. Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia are filled with yankee transplants. Attitudes towards race are not as strong as they were. Some small towns might have a few businesses discriminate but likely a cometitor will happily welcome blacks. If atttitides are united against blacks than the blacks will move to a more welcoming town and both sides will be happier.

People should integrate by choice, not by govt. force. Not everybody wants to live in a rainbow village.

Government force was the only thing forcing integration in the south. Sometimes literally, with soldiers having to de-segregate schools forcefully.

I said earlier the govt. can and should have a policy of EQUAL (which also means not giving black people special treatment) treatment. This means schools should also be desegregated (but based on a student's distance from school-desegregation by busing is wrong). I believe the govt. shouild ignore race period. No asking of race on job applications of student forms. No more minority history months which marginalize others. No more discussion of civil rights battles in schools because this stirs up bad memories of race division in the USA, no more MLK Day (same as last reason). The goal is to have a colorblind society and it needs to start with the govt. ignoring race. My policy is even less racist than liberals, shocked?!

The desegregation goes for any business that accepts govt. contracts as well. The govt. will refuse to do business with a place that discriminates.

Govt. should not force restaurants to get rid of separate seating for coloreds, let the business decide for itself. In time, less and less places will discriminate.

Might be sort of fun to go way the hell back to whenever people got their obsession with gold and try to convince them that "hey, guys, this gold stuff isn't all it's chalked up to be. But you know what is great? Limestone. So much better than gold. Mine it and cherish it!"

Just because it'd be fascinating to see how human history would have played out had gold not become king.

Limestone is not as durable as gold, though. Gold was chosen, among other things, because it does not rust, is easy to mark and is relatively rare.

Exactly. Limestone is everywhere, and not particularly great for anything. No sense replacing gold with another rare and shiny material in this scenario - we'd just have the same thing but with a different metal then!
