The 1950's? The time before civil rights for blacks and women caught on? Sucked for anyone who was not white, male and Dwight D. Eisenhower

Blacks might be worse off now:

http://www.yourblackworld.net/2013/03/b ... ort-shows/

I could not find 1950 reports but I am guessing divorce for blacks was lower than also.

Look at pictures from 1950's and today. Blacks dressed nicer back then. I am guessing they spoke better English and listened to more appropriate music back then also. They might have been poorer but on average they acted more dignified. We can say the same things for whites and hispanics as well of 1950 and today.

Yes, blacks were treated unfairly but within their communities they were closer together.

Sure you could. And without packaged food, modern medicine, manufactured clothing? Having only stone and bone tools to do everything? I think not.

Why not? Learn to be self-sufficient, be much less lazy, and, whilst living a shorter life, probably find more enjoyment and fulfilment in it.

You have to leave Ayn Rand. Who would we mock? And what's so important about the Antikythera mechanism? It was an interesting curiosity, certainly, but hardly earthshaking.

· Well the loss of the Antikythera mechanism also meant the loss of clockwork technology which wasn't regained for centuries.
· There is a reason why they're both bottom of the list.

 We were talking about living back in America before colonization. Plus, I could probably buy a square metre of land, with my money.

Land ownership was not a thing in pre-colonial North America.

Make Harald Hardrada win the Battle of Stamford Brigde and convert to the old Norse Beliefs, later would he win against William the Bastard.

It was suggested for me to buy a plot of land. All I was saying was, even if I wanted to buy a plot of land, which I don't want to, I could barely afford enough for me to fit in, standing still.

It was far too late to go back to "the old Norse Beliefs." If he had done so Christianity would have come back after he died.

People living under the constant threat of nuclear war, with rampant racism and sexism, was the best age in American history? Shit son, you best be trippin balls.

no gangster rap
lower obesity rates
the nuclear family was more common
better parents and more capable children (parents gave children more freedoms and responsility then)
no cable TV (people did more interesting activities instead)
friendlier music on the radio
friendlier TV programs
no crack epidemic
cocaine not widely used
The USA was a leading manufacturing nation
No Islamic Terrorism threats, less Islam period
Golden age of baseball, players stayed with teams longer and no steroids (1960's also a great baseball decade)
gas was cheaper relative to income
college degree meant something special, now everybody has one making it meaningless
high school diploma considered good enough for most jobs
less political correctness: girls were girls and men were men
being gay was not considered normal and/or cool
less suburban sprawl (although this started getting bad in late 1940's)
US had better passenger rail service and bus service
I could hire who I wanted without regards to race, religion, gender, etc.
many other things

Today we live under threat of nuclear war (N. Korea, Pakistan, Iran might build one) and we also have Islamic terrorism as well

We have racism, Obama even encourages it:
