the sad effects of conservative government and being right next to america

the NHS is p. cool tbh

i'd love to hear about the people who went bankrupt in candadian hospitals from the public healthcare sucking them dry though

that said, i can see how private healthcare can really help you out with your waiting times

If you consider rent "vandalism".

I was referring to taxation. Rent isn't like taxation. If you don't pay your taxes, eventually you get a free room and board (prison) with the stipulation that you have to stay there for a few years until "productive society" in the guise of men in black gowns decide your removal from public interaction has been long enough to "repay" said "productive society."

And if you don't pay rent, you get thrown out. Would you prefer to get thrown out of the country for not paying taxes? Because I'm OK with such a reform.

So you take the position that the human condition is composed of nothing more than a very large list of "stimulus ---> response" relationships of varying complexity? You reject the assumption of a calculating, rational individual? Or have I misunderstood you?

Did I choose to be born into poverty? Did I choose to have my car break down two weeks ago? Did my grandmother choose to die of cancer? Of course not. Social reality is that nobody makes an absolute choice. Nobody is free in the way you like to contend. This idea of "totally voluntary" as a way of organizing a society is delusional at best. Nobody has volunteered to be on the wrong end of a power imbalance, yet they are. Not much in our world is freely given in the sense that is implied by Capitalkidsts.

If you're the result of your own injury, society as a whole should not be subjected to your carelessness.

Not the same thing as I'm on about. A guarantee of insurance coverage is not the same as government employees providing health care.

I'd tear my hair out if I had any at how stooopid the health care debate in America has gotten over missing this distinction.

I kinda relish the irony that the folks in America who are having all sustenance, protection, health care and shelter needs provided by government right now are incarcerated prisoners.

They are sure enforceable under the State power. But it's the law that legitimizes that enforcement.

The best part is that people respond to this not by demanding the government, for example, make sure everyone has access to health care, but by ranting about how prisoners should be treated like dogs. It's amazing.
