There are really two questions here.

If one of your parents is black, and another is white, what 'race' do you consider YOURSELF.

The second question is, what do you think others see you as?

Mmh. You could always try to break it down into fractions, though I don't see how that's gonna help any. If you have a darker tone of skin because of some of your ancestry, you're just darker skinned.

What I find interesting is the "one drop of blood" rule established throughout the U.S. after the Civil War, whereas before you could have been considered white with a much higher percentage of "black" in you.

Which is why I care not what people say. I think that we are all of the same species, so color/culture should not hinder us from pursuing our goals. If one of those goals is to make 'nigga'/'nigger' a word that DOESN'T get people into mad rant about slavery and oppression, then I'm all for it!

Yeah, I'd say so. I could see a justification for saying "I'm part Black", just like I say "I'm part Swiss, part German, part Polish and part English and definitely from Ohio".

Depending on how culturally adapt they are to people of mixed race they seem me differently.
Most people from my school and people I know in my City seem me as mixed, though some people
who may not 'hang' around mixed race people or don't know how to tell the difference between any people
of 'colour', may see me as black.
