Record Number of Americans support Gay Marriage

Finally America is becoming less and less backwards, a new poll from MSNBC claims that 58 percent of Americans support marriage equality, http://tv.msnbc.com/2013/03/18/american ... ew-record/.
This is a major increase from the 32 percent who supported it in 2004. Thoughts, opinions?

Why is this for the better? Marriage as an institution at least in this nation has degraded so greatly that the ability for homosexual same sex couples to get married can hardly be called an accomplishment. If anything it speaks to growing apathy about anything more than support of "civil rights"?

I don't see why you care if people of the same gender who love each other want to get married. What effect does it have on you? How does it hurt you in any way? It's like saying two blonde people can't get married just because of their hair color.

That's a good question, and Im sure the media has a small role, but I think people are just becoming more open minded.
