There is a slight resemblance; if someone showed me a picture of that actor and told me he was the President's uncle or something, I would find that plausible. They have reasonably similarly-shaped faces.

That said, I'm pretty sure that, to the sort of people who get excited about the idea that an actor playing Satan in a miniseries vaguely resembles Obama, other people who look "exactly like" Obama include OJ Simpson, Lil Wayne, Idi Amin, and Gary Coleman.

I used to watch the Weather Channel as if it was serious for kids. This was before reality TV infected it during the 1990s.

I highly doubt that it was intentional, especially when the actor's past portrayals are taken into account. I mean thats almost like taking a monkey and casting him as George w. bush. If the monkey has had past experience at portraying political figures, he cant help the fact that he just so happens to resemble the person he was protraying as well.

At least it's more historical than Hairy Bikers. Which, yes, is a real show.

Yet another awful American remake of a classic British series, eh? Slightly puzzled that in the US it's on the History Channel, since the Hairy Bikers are only seen on BBC 2.

In terms to the OP, I would say there is a slight resemblance. The Moroccan could easily pass for a much older and far more wizened Obama.

Perhaps he should have waited until he was older and had that wizened experience before taking office.

Not that I don't agree or anything, but I don't think it's all that farfetched to say that the producers knew that and casted it accordingly.

I mean those sorts of people are exactly what this series is marketed towards. The whole channel even.

It looks a bit like Obama, or, Oldbama. Just a bit though, nothing too remarkable.

Coincidence.

Liberals will probably complain even though many already complain about not enough 'minority' representation in TV or movies.

Exactly! Who cares about this Obama/Satan thing. Why the hell is a supposed channel about history doing a overdramatized series about a book of tall tales (Bible)? I'm sure some things might be factual in the Bible (by some random chance) but most of it's just made up retelling and exaggeration. Somehow I think they won't speak on the god-promoted mass murders and such. People seem to forget what most of the Bible is about: death and killing.

Channels change over time, sometimes no longer reflecting their initial intent.... it's like if you want SciFi these days, you're better off tuning into BBC America than the SyFy channel.

Ever since they adopted SyFy as a name and cancelled Stargate they've gone to shit. I mean they were pretty shit to start with, but at least they were trying to stick to the general sci-fi/fantasy genres.

The only reason Sci Fi used to be good was because it had Stargate and Eureka. Without Eureka, there's just no point to watch, and Defiance looks mediocre at best.

At least they're better than History and Discovery. Mythbusters are gone, and even H2, where the old, good history channel shows kept running, has been torn apart in favor of more reality tv. The only channels I watch now are BBC America, AMC, and NBC (Community and Grimm). Everything's turning into shitty reality tv shows.

Mythbusters is not gone.... they are on an inter-season hiatus right now. new episodes run through the summer, typically starting in late spring, so the 2013 season will not start up till around May.

I watch most the same stuff you do, except add CSI, CSI:NY, Criminal Minds, Bones and The Big Bang Theory to that list.
