I am surprised we have such little enthusiasm about our language, really. You speak it, write it, you live it! Now, what I think screws it up is all the English classes in HS/College. Do we really need 12+ years to learn a damn language!

I am self-taught. I read at a college level, far more advanced than what my colleagues can read. I have better writing, better reading skills, better language skills all around than what these kids in my grade can do. If our education system still produces these illiterate morons WITH the 12+ years of an English class, then we are definitely going down on the ol' intelligence spectrum...

I am a lousy typist - partly because I am just starting to touch type, partly since starting to play the piano my typing has got worse. However, if people think of me as a bit of a spelling Nazi about their posts, they should take comfort in the fact that I am much harder on myself. I always try to review posts and correct them before submitting, and editing any mistakes I notice afterwards.

more than one way to skin a cat. there are ways around this obstacle.
and i'd say intelligence is more like an ocean, the shallow fish work in their habitats via numbers, the deeper ones work in their habitats via their own ways. Take either one and move them to the other area and they would die.

Eh, Firefox gives me red marks when I commit an error.

I do take a bit longer than most to write my posts though...

Quick question on that: Corrections are to US English spelling. How do you switch them to UK English, so words like "labour", "colour", and "traveller" get spelled correctly?
