As far as I can tell, forcing social change is bad. Letting it happen on it's own is a better way to go.

You can't wait for something you know isn't going to happen.

People are like retarded 5 year olds. They're not going to do something by force, and forcing them to do something is just going to piss them off.

I believe Agent K from Men in Black said it best.

A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.

Regardless, it was Communications & Journalism, and as I stated with my Law & Politics post, Law was the priority and Politics the addition,

The fact that journalists are lazy in writing out the full account, well it reflects rather neatly on Palin really.

Overall, to even compare it with Obama's educational credentials is laughable.

Right. Fuck emancipation - when the negroes 'happen' to stop being slaves, that'll be plenty good enough.

And screw suffrage. Women can wait to be democratically represented until it happens organically.

Whenever a government does something by force, more often than not it is met with negative results. Forced segregation, forced slavery, denying people's certain right is bad. However, the other side of the pendulum is just as bad. This is why I believe the best option a government can take is to simply step out. Do not make laws denying anyone rights, however, do not make laws that forces people together. All it'll do is create hostility and anger.

Well thing is, the U.S. government had already forcibly denied African Americans their rights, so if the government had just stepped out like they did during the period from 1865 to 1964(generally) African Americans would never have gotten equal rights.

Sometimes governments need to forcibly protect the rights of it's citizens, a notable example would be police arresting someone because they tried to deny someone else their right to life.

No, it isn't.

Unless you are implying that a couple of racist landowners getting butthurt because they weren't allowed to keep slaves any more, is 'just as bad' as treating people like property?

Forcing people to be slaves led to the Civil War (yes yes, I know it's not the sole cause, blah blah blah). It also led to the Jim Crow era in the South. I don't know about you, but that's bad. The government was right to repeal those laws, it was right to make them illegal. In my perspective, that is middle of the road, or dead center if we want to continue with the pendulum analogy. However, busing kids to a non-neighborhood school because you want to diversity your schools is bad. Because then the pendulum is starting to swing the other way.

Interesting. What was her degree in again?

Journalism. University of Idaho. 1987.

Communications, with an emphasis on journalism.

I look forward to your long career on FOX given your penchant for straight facts, no spin.

What's the difference between journalism and communications-majoring-in-journalism?

Accuracy.

Here's some more accuracy, courtesy of a well-sourced Wikipedia page:

She attended Hawaii Pacific University in the Fall of 1982, North Idaho College (which named her Distinguished Alumni of the Year in June 2008) in the Spring and Fall of 1983, the University of Idaho in the Fall of 1984 and Spring of 1985, Matanuska-Susitna College in the Fall of 1985, and the University of Idaho again in the Spring and Fall of 1986 and the Fall of 1987, when she received her Bachelor's degree in communications with an emphasis in journalism

Er, LG, you really don't want to go there. I cited three of the four sources for that very Wikipedia page (Slate being the one I didn't cite), and they say journalism.

Actually, I was posting that to reference the number of schools she attended(two of which are community colleges) not the degree title. I really dont give a shit if it's a journalism degree or a communications degree. I don't see a point in arguing the difference.

All and sundry, CUT IT OUT, NOW!

There is a complaint in Moderation about New Mittanni trolling. There could equally well be counter-claims about other posters trolling. And, y'know what?

NOT INTERESTED.

Not interested in taking sides in any of this childish "you did", "no, you did".

Interested in seeing a reasonable discussion by adults of the actual topic, without the name-calling or the concentration on individual posters.

Closing this for a while to let tempers cool. Coffee-break.

Well, I just think that forcing people to integrate IE busing them to different schools, or doing anything for the sake of "diversity" is wrong.

Yeah, but, what Im saying is, I dont think thats why they were bussing them, the white schools were the schools after the end of Segregation...

I think that was just a slogan used by the opposition, who themselves either believed, or wanted others to believe, that the black schools were "equal" when in reality they werent...

I will concede that schools were not equal, and still aren't equal. However, I think today it's more about the funding that schools get rather than race.

Agreed, but, thats because today its hard to find a school, well, at least in South Mississippi, that doesnt contain most ethnicities in it...

"I found a GOP politician dumber than Palin."

i'm sure this must have taken a long and arduous search. NOT.

although palin certain was "a card to draw to".
and undoubtedly would have been pretty hard to top,
were there not such a fertile field in which to search.
