Just because a lot has changed in the last 2000 years, it doesnt mean something back then isnt as true as it is right now. It seems to me this is the slippery slope where a lot of your acceptance for this stems from.

Further to my point above, if you are a religious individual, you of course have the right under the freedom of expression to voice your disapproval. What I do question is the right to block marital legislations, an instrument of the law and the state, i.e. under the public sphere, based on reasoning derived from rules and logic which is only valid within your own circle and not applicable to society at large. If your rationale is, for argument's sake, that same sex marriage would for some reason decrease our tax returns, or accelerate global warming or some other reason of concern by everyone else, that's something that you can use. Otherwise, it's an unjustifiable imposition of an in-group logic to the out-group at large.

My point being, if the God the OP believes in sees homosexuality as a grevious sin, then that's between God and homosexuals. Nobody's forcing heterosexuals to become homosexuals. In America, a person has the right to not believe specific religious doctrine, especially when ignoring it is of no harm to others. Applying your own personal spiritual beliefs to everybody else is meaningless. In fact, even from a doctrine perspective, because it means they're merely paying lip service to it, which further disrespects the faith.
