They seem to want to back up and hide in a corner on the major issues and try to put restraints on people's second amendment rights as a kind of feel good distraction. They are pussyfooting around health care reform and continuously propose ridiculous bills that are so ill prepared or unfair (such as fining people for not having health insurance I am looking for a legitimate source for this right now, I saw one a couple weeks ago but I have to sort through all those blogs that make it sound even worse) that even those in the opposite party who are keen on national health care refuse to pass them.
This pretty much sums up what I don't like about my party (the Democratic Party). Most of the Dems in politics have no spine or assertiveness. They also give crappy names to thinks they want to pass. I mean really. The Republicans were able to pass ANYTHING and you know why? Because it had a cool sounding name (
). Which is better, the Patriot Act, or Restriction of Constitutional Freedoms Act? Don't Ask Don't Tell or Ban teh Gayz from da ARMY!!! ? Seriously people...Now, in Puerto Rican politics, I define myself as a member of the New Progressive Party (Partido Nuevo Progresista). They are the island's pro-statehood party. Now what defines the three parties here is only their stance on the island's status. Economic, social, etc. policies vary from individual to individual, although the PNP (Pro-Statehood) tends to be more Republican when it comes to economics (to my dismay), the PPD (Pro-Status Quo) is usually Democratic and the PIP (Pro-independence) prefer Social Democracy. Again, however, it depends on the individual.
