What Things do you Dislike about your Party?

Postby Goldsaver » Sun Nov 01, 2009 11:37 am

Well, I haven't seen any thread on it, so I'll start it. What things do you dislike about the party you belong to/most commonly vote for?

The two main things I dislike about the Democratic Party is their Gun Control Stance and their environmentalist policies, and not enough focus on the Worker's Rights Policies.

EDIT: I dislike the Gun Control Stance because I don't believe that Guns should be restricted that much, and I dislike how they are too focused on environmentalism. It is also worthy to mention, though I like many of their policies, they rarely stand firmly behind them.

for people who aren't from your country, it might help to say why you don't like the stances taken :-) For instance, do you wish the Democrats were more into gun control, or less so.

As a Democrat, I'm upset my party isn't more progressive on social policy- particularly gay rights and particularly I'd like the Democrats to advocate marriage rights. Also, I'd like to see the party stand firmly behind universal health care rather than advocate whatever it is we're advocating in Washington, DC today.

No one else has a problem with a policy position held by their political party? Really?

Well, I dont claim membership within a party...however, I do vote democrat, and I hate the lack of balls, too much kowtowing to the Republicans...

I cant stand their usual focus on further globalization, to the detriment of American workers and farmers...

Their focus on environmentalism to the detriment of the aforementioned, Im all for alternative energy, but it needs to be done in such a way that it doesnt harm American families, and lose American jobs...

Lately their paying mass amounts of money to Wall Street, banks, and various corporate interests...

But, with the exception of the first, those are also platforms of the Republican Party, and other than that I generally support the Dems' aims...

I'll trade you a Runeoligist for one of those Priests. Not quite as powerful as a wizard but they can continuously cast and have some unique attack spells; I'm sick of getting beet up and spending weeks recovering. People are relying on the damn Holy Knight to be a healer.

Well, Goldstein Goldsaver, there are several things about the Party I dislike. The main reason is the fact that they promote ignorance, war and denounce freedom. It's doubleplusungood... :?

I usually vote republican. I don't like the fact that they won't stand up against illegal immigration. Hum, anti-gay isn't that great but I don't particularly care either. They help out corporations too much, but both my choices do that, so I guess I'm fucked on that one. Overspending... pretty obvious one, and again something both sides tend to do.

I think he means "The Party", like in the Soviet Union or something. Goldstein was a guy in the book 1984.

Former Democrat turned Green. I find most of both to be hopeless (too liberal, especially the Greens) on social issues, such as prayer in schools, gay rights, and the death penalty. Also, I do not think either party (especially the Dems) is economically progressive enough to make the reforms that are necessary.

The fact that the Republicans are a bunch of pusses who are in bed with big business and try to pander to the masses instead of sticking to their conservative roots. I loathe the Republicans (but not more than the Dems)

Okay, serious answer. I'm very anti-party I vote for individual politicians whom I believe best represent my interest and hope they actually behave the way they promise (almost never happens). Things I dislike about political parties are numerous so I'll not mention them instead I'll briefly go over what I dislike about each party's stance.

Republicans are too busy blaming the Democrats for the fuck ups they perpetrated and pretending like they are blameless. They spend too much time trying to ignore certain constitutional amendments and enforce a type of Christian ideology upon the entire nation while all but destroying people's rights of freedom of speech and expression. While they continue to play the blame game they hold out and refuse to try and make any kind of compromise on issues vital to the nation right here and now.

Democrats are to put it quite frankly, wimps. They seem to want to back up and hide in a corner on the major issues and try to put restraints on people's second amendment rights as a kind of feel good distraction. They are pussyfooting around health care reform and continuously propose ridiculous bills that are so ill prepared or unfair (such as fining people for not having health insurance) that even those in the opposite party who are keen on national health care refuse to pass them.

That's just for starters.
EDIT: Found an LA Time Article.

Ill just identify with the Democrats because they are the most left wing party in power at the moment (and that say a lot considering they are center right). My beef with them is their inability to stand up for any progressive policies.

Though I am very anti-party myself, I identify with a set of ideals, not a party. I simply support the party that comes closest to those ideals.
