Oy, no matter how much of a dick you claim he was, at least have respect for the dead.

honestly, anyone but him. i mean, i'm pretty sure that people were celebrating when eichmann was hanged, and they were both architects of absurdly evil plans (albeit one on a significantly larger scale).

i wouldn't say this about any other israeli...i'm not a fan of hyperbole.

I mean, let's look the man up methodically and without biases. In 1948, Sharon joined the Haganah, a militant zionist organisation that led military actions ( often resulting in the death of civilians ) against arabs, and the british military. The Haganah was feared for its brutality.

In 1953, he entered unit 101, as a major. He participated in operation Shoshana: its objective was to "cleanse" Qibya, a small palestinian village, from its armed militants. But the raid resulted in the death of 69 palestinian civilians. Some were shot, others were forced to stay within their houses while they were destroyed upon them.

Sharon was also found indirectly responsible, by Israeli authorities, of the Sabra and Chatila massacre. He resigned, but came back in Politics. He stopped negociations with Arafat, and started building the well known anti-terror wall. He consistently supported further colonisation of inhabited palestinian territories.

This, is who Ariel Sharon was. There is no logical reason to mourn such a man.

Your nation is like a son. What it does right is your merit, as well as what it does wrong is your fault. When you praise it, be lucid and avoid exaggeration. Praising it too much can make it indolent. On the other hand, when you criticize it, be harsh, but do not ridicule it. Do your best to improve it, not through derision or disdain, but through good examples and dedication.

This is mistaken. He actively tried to DISCOURAGE peace. He lit the match that sparked the 2nd intifada, deliberately installed Hamas in Gaza and gave them a fiefdom, created a separation between Gaza and the West Bank, built a de-facto concrete 'border' that will cost a lot to move, and associated settlement evacuations with national trauma in the minds of manistream israelis.

In fact, he has been the WORST person for trying to create peace.

if he was just a war criminal i would agree with you...
Eichmann gets a yamach shemoh for being the architect of untold human suffering, the effects of which are still being felt to this day.
Sharon basically designed the entire current situation, which also results in a lot of suffering (albeit with far less casualties) to this very day.
He has literally done nothing good, and everyone would be better off if he had never existed.

Despite his many crimes and transgressions, he was a human just as flawed as we all are. I hope a measure of mercy will be given to him where he's going if he deserves it.

To God we belong and to Him shall we return.

Uh... I guess the Powerpoint animation I made of Ariel Sharon appearing from the toilet bowl when I was seven would not be in good taste at a time like this.

By the way, in Islamic teachings a man is punished first in the world, then on his deathbed, then in the grave, then on the Day of Judgment (in its many stages), then in their designated premises. The illusion of time and passage therewith can be manipulated as is seen fit, especially in regards to the punishment of the deathbed, so the blink of an eye may feel like eons, every breath is like a millennium, etc.

Consider the fact that he's been on his deathbed for at least eight years. Oh, every precious second...

He will only do so at his own will and volition; such an action is not foreseen in the near future. He is entitled to his opinion, as you are yours.

Though I have not seen any disrespect against Palestine or Palestinians within this one page. Only disapproval of the listing of a man's crimes; what he's done is now between him and God, I believe, and a man should be entitled to some peace in this regard. I am looking for the term for it in TVTropes, and I can't seem to remember the name.

While I am against much of what he did and his politics but death is death may he rest in peace. Although I can't say his death is a surprise I mean being in a coma for eight years doesn't really give you hope that he will live.
