Postby Curiosityness » Mon Mar 11, 2013 5:05 pm

nation states and plenty of other games have got me thinking. if you were the president/king/queen or whatever else their is. how would you run an actual country? would you be more liberl, conservative, eco-friendly, pacifist, communist, dictatorship, religious, democracy, and what kind of laws would you put in place?

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

Implying I'm not already ruling one I'd like to think I'd do a good job, but I don't feel like I'd do foreign policy well.

I would probably do half decently, I know the ins and outs of foreign politics. I'd probably run a Dictatorship with a semi-Socialist economy, having the government control key industries that can't manage themselves. Other than that, Laissez-Faire

Probably badly.

I'd set out with what I'd consider reasonable goals, but probably fail in implementation and economics. I'd certainly make efforts to get as much advice as possible to try and compensate, though.

God, that scared me half to death.

I think I'd do a decent job at leading a country. Certainly better then the soft-headed invalids America's had in office as of lately. Not that I hate any of them personally, but as leaders, they should have just stuck to their social organizations. ;)

Certainly my domestic policy would trump Obama's by a nautical mile. Our domestic manufacting would be much more competitive (nothing a slight boost in tariffs can't fix C:), none of this foolish "Gun Control Debate would be going on, as I would instate a new constitution that would illegalize the illegalization and enforcement of concealed carry. So, nobody's forced to have a gun, and anybody can have them (of course, though, there would be stricter regulation on their sale). Also, this Socialist National Healthcare System is a load of crap. That really needs to go (saying this as a former economic socialist myself ).

Our soldiers wouldn't be being killed overseas fighting a war over Oil (that we should instead be fighting for our independance from, anyways :palm:), and that half-witted Reps vs Dems argument would be no longer, rather them both hating me for challenging their powers at every turn and questioning their logic in having 3.4 times the average US Salary and wondering where all the money is going.
I'd would make sure that people who are fully able to work but instead want to live off of welfare get good-paying jobs instead of living off the money of everyone else (with the exception of the mediaclly disabled), and just to keep that up, increase the minimum wage to accompany inflation. The educational system could use a bit of work, too...
Hopefully somewhere in there I'd be able to lower taxes on all classes... depends on the amount of additional profit that the economy develops under my administration.

It would, to some extent, depend on which country, and whether or not I was magically granted dictator powers.

I've made a whole lot of posts in other threads detailing specific subsets of these.
America if it didn't get involved in Word War I. And the Marxist ideal of violent revolution was carried out more heavily. And Hoover was assassinated. And loads of other things that eventually lead to fascism.
(But no, not a fascist)
