What extinct species would you bring back?

Postby Slembana » Mon Mar 11, 2013 12:04 pm

If you could bring back an extinct animal, what would it be? A giant rodent from the Mediterranean? T-Rex? A huge shark?

I'd bring back Megalania, a giant Komodo dragon from Australia. I'd bring it back because it is a giant Komodo dragon, and I like Komodo dragons. I might also bring back some extinct animals from Europe that are now found only in Africa and Asia, such as hippos, hyenas, and lions. I'd also like to bring back the tarpan and the aurochs, and maybe some extinct subspecies of tigers and rhinos.
I have left NS.

The Neanderthals/any other species in the Homo genus, if just to see how different/similar we are.

These massive bastards, the Irish Elk, Megaloceros giganteus. Almost 7ft high at the shoulder, with 12ft antlers, tip to tip. I maintain that they could be domesticated like horses, and used for the most awesome transport ever.

Fucking ninjas.

Couldn't agree more, also it would put humanity into perspective, we aren't as unique as we think.

I want a pet microraptor and I've always wanted a Auroch burger and even Mammoth steaks I'd also love to eat Tyrannosaur but that one might be a bit too dangerous

Also the giant Haast Eagle, the Moa and Cnemiornis (giant goose) and the Diprotodon (giant wombat) so the Thylacines have something to eat...

and Neanderthals aren't extinct, they now sit in the European Parliment

Were this a real option, I'd do serious investigation into what would have the most positive effects if reintroduced to its ecosystem, and choose accordingly.

Since it's a silly hypothetical question on a webforum, I'll just go with the dodo, solely so I could keep one as a pet and name it Pickwick.

Realistically? Mammoths. Completely possible, and would make for extremely useful 'cattle', not to mention they'd be great beasts of burden.

Magically? So many to choose from.

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.
