But EEZ =/= territorial waters. And anyway territorial waters are determined by the sovereignty over the dry land, and not the other way around. When you have superimposed territorial waters (not the case with Falkland/Argentina) you have a maritime border. (Example, France and Britain share a maritime border at the Strait of Dover/Pas de Calais).

Anyway, Falklands lie 280 nm off the nearest Argentine coast. The EEZ is limited to the first 200 nm off the coast... so, all we have here is a case of eventually superimposed EEZ claims.

Let me correct you: The current inhabitants of the Malvinas aren't the original citizens of the islands so the UN treaty of self determination doesn't apply in this case.
