Can't blame one president for decades of mismanagement. However, can blame her for her own share, which is rather ample.

Err, the continental SHELF (not the plate) is linked to the definition of the EEZ.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EEZ
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental_shelf

But EEZ =/= territorial waters. And anyway territorial waters are determined by the sovereignty over the dry land, and not the other way around. When you have superimposed territorial waters (not the case with Falkland/Argentina) you have a maritime border. (Example, France and Britain share a maritime border at the Strait of Dover/Pas de Calais).

Anyway, Falklands lie 280 nm off the nearest Argentine coast. The EEZ is limited to the first 200 nm off the coast... so, all we have here is a case of eventually superimposed EEZ claims.

It isn't weird because those people migrated to there and are British with an identity crisis, and call themselfs Kelpers.

Let me correct you: The current inhabitants of the Malvinas aren't the original citizens of the islands so the UN treaty of self determination doesn't apply in this case.

Falklanders may be British, but are the islands?

That basicly is the crux of the dispute from the Argentine perspective. In that view, the islanders opinions are meaningless because they're just colonists.

In that case, self-determination only applies for Tanzania. It's the only country in the world with inhabitants that were always there, and even that is debatable.

If they wanted to be Argentinean then they would have done so, they are HAPPY under British Rule, and if Argentina wants them. THEN COME AND GET THEM AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS, UK CRUSHED Argentina before and they will do it again if needed.

What identity crisis? Every time they're asked, they reply, "British, thank you." Calling themselves "Kelpers" is the same as people from New England in the US calling themselves "Yankees," people from Oklahoma, "Sooners," Ohioans, "Buckeyes," people from Rio being called "Cariocas," or people from Buenos Aires calling themselves "Porteños."

The Argentinians are just colonists too by that logic.

Then what makes them Argentinians land? And yes the Islands can speak, and they wanted to be under British rule and they haven't said anything because they like being under British control. Can't you get that into your head..... :palm:
