Maybe, but I'm presuming that most pro-gun activists would be against gun control even if it did work.

If it did work, I'd be for it, and I'm certainly pro-gun. My issue with it is that it doesn't, and so I'd prefer to keep my guns.

i this thread is about assault rifles I would say they are stupid for home defence. Use a pump shotgun. Much less likely to miss, and much less chance of overpenetration.

The issue isn't logistics, it's principles. Gun control presumes guilt.

Indeed it does. Of course (as you can see from some of the recent posts) gun-owners/pro-gun people are automatically presumed to be mentally ill or criminals.

There's no reason to ban assault weapons. Hammers killed more people than rifles in general, let alone assault weapons.

There's a huge difference between a .38 and an "assault weapon", and even if you ban all teh things right now, there will still be millions of them around and available.

We need to GET RID of the grandfather clause if we are really going to get rid of the guns...

We need to tighten the war on drugs as well as start a war on guns.

We need to change the geocultural differences over several years so that America can be saved from gun violence...

AND we can START with regulations but our ultimate goal should be to get rid of the guns from almost all civilians.

1) The problem is that the Obama Administration says 'assault weapons', but upon research, it would actually get rid of EVERYTHING but revolvers and Coach Guns(the dual-barreled shotguns). That means anything with a magazine-gone.

2) It won't stop criminals like they say it will. If people are forced to give up their guns, the only ones who will still have them are the CRIMINALS, who will hide them. If you take a half an hour to look around on the internet, Australia and parts of Europe banned some types of guns. The result?


UP TO 40% MORE GUN MURDERS.

Granted, gun accidents went away, but still.... talk about a failed gov't plan.
