Well, we respectfully differ. My issue with most gun control is that it punishes law-abiding citizens for the acts of a few criminals.

I didn't say we should ban toasters, I said it would be easier to empty a country of toasters than it would to empty it of guns.

There's no reason to ban assault weapons. Hammers killed more people than rifles in general, let alone assault weapons.
There's a huge difference between a .38 and an "assault weapon", and even if you ban all teh things right now, there will still be millions of them around and available.
