Breast Self-Examination on TV

Postby Wilgrove » Fri Oct 30, 2009 5:39 pm

Link

I was driving home from the bookstore, and I heard on the radio that in November, a news station was going to show a breast examination on TV in New York. This is probably the first time a breast has been show on national TV (beside the subscription based porno channels, or HBO). However, there is controversy stemming from the fact that the station is showing it during sweeps. While I don't doubt the educational value this may have for millions of women everywhere (it shows how to do one with a real breast.), I can see where people are coming from. I mean is the station purely doing it to help women, or are they also trying to help themselves with a rating grab?

So thoughts?

Oh no, breasts! Think of the chaos that'll be caused, the wave of moral corruption and probable rape spree that will follow! Most of all, think of the children!

Hey, I never have a problem with breasts. Breasts are awesome. So are a few other atheistically pleasing parts. ;)

People who live in the United States tend to be uptight when it comes to sexuality. However, it's ok if little Johnny, who is six years old, plays Grand Theft Auto.

The link to the article has a link to the story that shows the breast examination.

I dunno if that breaks the PG-13 rule of this forum.

The benefits of knowing how to detect problems early far outweigh any offense even the most puritanical promoter of body shame could have. I am glad they are showing this on TV.

It could save someones life.

True, there's also testicular cancer, which can be detected in the same way that breast cancer can be. So guys, be sure to grab yourself once a month while in the shower. Give your balls a good grabbing. Act like you're a black rap star and just grab a pair!

Oh, I know that, 40 years ago it was also quite a shocker here in the Netherlands(it was 1967), but I didn't know it was that bad :)

And over here we have something like recommended ages for games and television, so GTA for a 6 year old is not okay here :)

We have it too, just nobody gives a damn...which is rather Ironic when there is an uproar over a movie or tv show,

There's al;so the fact that men can get breast cancer as well. My father-in-law had breast cancer and had to have a mastectomy done about 5-6 years ago.

It's not ok over here either, but that won't stop parents, grandparents, or uncle/aunt buying it for the little one for their birthdays, Christmas or Bar Mitzvah.

I completely read that as "vasectomy" and pondered about your father-in-law's doctor.
Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.

New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

 BOOBS! Seriously, though, breast exams shouldn't be regarded as a sign of moral decay. That's what the rest of tv is for.

The link to the article has a link to the story that shows the breast examination.

I dunno if that breaks the PG-13 rule of this forum.

the video linked may not be the one shown on air.

and two... depends on the mods... tho the clinical nature really removes any arousing aspect of what is shown.
