Conservatives do what's best for the government. Liberals do what's best for the people. Either way, someone gets 'held' back, but in this case, no. Conservatives are holding the PEOPLE'S rights back, but it's the liberals who are holding the U.S Government back.

The OP is nothing more than a liberal rant, wishing their rivals would simply vanish from the face of the Earth, it seems. How tolerant. Republicans and Conservatives aren't going anywhere, and I simply laugh when liberals declare an early victory. Face the facts, your going to have to cooperate with Republicans if you ever want to get anything done.

Alternatively, given the fact that Democrats are on the rise, Republicans will have to compromise with them.

Democrats are on the rise? Since when? Liberals try to make being a conservative obsolete, it seems. Saying we have to evolve. It's just a trend, there will always be democrats and republicans, only one party will be slightly more popular.

Depends. Republicans could have likely run a better candidate this year they might have won.

Plus, Hunker Down effect would work in their favor.

Democrats have won five of the past six popular votes for President. Republicans have lost seats in both the House and Senate in the last election. Please, kindly accept defeat and admit that the Republicans are losing this round.

No, they really couldn't. No candidate, using standard Republican rhetoric and ideology, could have won this election. The loss of everyrepublican Romney pretty much proves that.

Romney was a fool. He couldn't even represent the Republicans in name only correctly, and that's saying something. Basically any previous candidate but him would have stood a better chance.

(Also, that would be four of the last six popular votes. And don't pretend the electoral college has no power.)

Kindly accept defeat? You act as if we're losing everything. You don't see me running around, flipping tables screaming "ERMAHGERD!! WE LOST THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION!! WE'RE FINISHED!!" No, because you know as well as I know that this doesn't mean the end of anything. From 1981-1993 there was a Republican president in the White House, were Democrats running around, yelling defeat and all is lost? No, just as they had their chance again, we'll have ours. So accept it. We're not defeated.

I did say popular vote, didn't I? President Bush lost in the popular vote in the 2000 election, but carried the electoral vote. I won't say it doesn't matter, but the popular opinion matters too.

People always flaunt "Oh the young people aren't voting Republican!" I'm astounded when they say this because a lot of the younger people I know didn't even vote, and those that did were half Republican, half Democrat supporters. I hear all this talk of conservatism being dead but I really don't see it.

I'm more worried about people not voting at all than people not voting Republican, come to think of it. The political apathy we're seeing is staggering.

Perhaps the eventual downfall of the Republican Party would be just the same for the Dems?

A lot of people just don't care to vote anyway. Some claim that we're screwed either way. Some just don't want to. It's embarrassing really. 40% of Americans don't vote, or so I've been told. I think that's a conservative number.

If I could vote, it would be for a third party.
Gary Johnson was my favourite presidential candidate in the latest elections. Fiscally right, and all so socially left.

It wouldn't matter. You need a congress with a large number of people from your party to succeed.

Even if a Nazi President wins, he'd have limited power.

I didn't much care for Johnson. His political track record is...questionable, to say the least. Funny that he attempted both Republican and Libertarian parties (succeeded at the latter, astonishingly), yet he had the most in common with the Democrats...possibly.

Honestly both the Republicans and Democrats are holding the U.S. back. We need a liberal party instead of these two right-wing parties. You can't move forward voting for two conservative parties.

Neither party is right-wing (that's a curse AND a blessing); they're both centrist, but one accepts people of the left and the other, people of the right.

(Oh, and please. Keep that hardcore liberal stuff in Canada and Western Europe - America doesn't need too much, if any, of that.)

Supporting the simple existence of capitalism so long as it contains far more socialist elements than necessary is entirely different from being a hardcore capitalist. You've zeroed out your political spectrum far too left.
