I'd say Russia should start the Soviet Union back up, because modern Russia sucks. The USSR was at least cool.

Participatory democracy. Good idea, however it has huge flaws (as does any system). I think the only governments which officialy support it now are Lybia and Venezuela. One being a fasade, and the other being due to Chavez's man crush on Simon Bolivar. But in principle its idealistic, but the major criticism and of all democracy is still the allegory of the sea captain by Plato over 2000 years ago. Go back to socialism, just not how it was, a better form of it. Like what Gorbachev tried to do before he was undermined.

I do not have an issue with the people voting on anything. Or everything.

How many decisions do various branches of the US government make per day? If we had to vote on all of them, all we would do it vote. That would be our full time job. Clearly not productive.

If the government was limited however, there would be fewer decisions to make. Then the public could use online voting places. Put in your SS and some other verifying information and vote.

There's a technical term for this already: kleptocracy.

Government by and for thieves; more technically, a government that seeks to extend the personal wealth of the governing class via the embezzling of state funds, and/or the use of state funds as the personal bank account of the governing class.

It's often closely tied to: kakistocracy.

Government by the worst; more technically, a government by the least-qualified and most incompetent available citizens.

I think this is a rare area Sibirsky and I might agree upon-

Basic rights should not be subject to the whims of democracy. They must be protected and treated as if sacred.

Nothing a sacred, for the right of one person could be the oppression of another.

Yeah, it might get to the point where people feel like there should be some kind of professional whose full-time job is to educate himself and vote on these various issues, and instead of the people voting directly, they instead elect the person they feel will vote the best.

What are those people called again?
