I have been bitching about the wrong things. I have been bitching that the poor want what I have.

That is totally wrong. I want what THEY get.

They get free food, free phones, free healthcare, free housing, free cadillacs, free internet, free cable.

Being poor really isn't as cushy as you pretend to believe.

However, assuming that you truly do believe all this that you've been spouting, I suggest that you really need to settle on some themes for your bitching before you embark on this political career you've been muttering about. If you're truly, how was it you put it?.. "willing to take a stand, put some skin in the game, and have (your) voice heard" you'll need to have some kind of consistent message so you can gather fellow ranters to your cause.

I "see fit" for my money to go to help people from falling into the abysse of poverty, and giving them a lifelife then can use to crawl back from, should they fall over. I don't bitch about my tax dollars being used for welfare, because I see welfare as an overall positive. I feel OK about it because it helps people.

It isn't. The coercion is there, only removed a little to the afterlife. If you don't pay your taxes, you might go to jail. If you don't tithe, you burn in the fires of hell for all eternity. I think I'd tithe, too, if I believed all that.

How do you ensure your 10% tithe is all going to people who need it. Does your pastor go out and personally inspect each purchase when doling out charity? Does your pastor get any money, have a car, etc.? Does he spend any of that money on the church itself rather than just giving 100% of it out as charity? LDS Bishops do not get paid by the church. There are at least 2 categories of tithing funds. One, which is generally regarded as 10% goes into the "general tithing fund" for the church. This is used to build temples and churches, operate the churchhouses (utilities/maintenance), among other things.

The second part "Fast Offerings" is when, on the first Sunday of the month, members fast for 24 hours and donate the money they would have spent on food to the "Fast Offering Fund". Those funds are consecrated for the welfare of the members and the people in the ward's boundaries. If there is money left over, it goes to the Church for the general welfare fund. Most members donate way more than 24 hours worth of food. This is why we have a very generous Church welfare program.

The Bishop does not give money to the recipient. They bring in the bills and the Bishop makes out the checks to the persons on the bills.
