I daresay I shall not be partaking in any vaccinations for the flu, let alone H1N1. I've total confidence in my ability to weather the symptoms of such things at this point, although that may not be the case when it actually happens. Still, there's something fun about being sick, snuggled up at home not having to go to work, eating warm soup and watching movies with the windows covered.

*sigh* relaxin'

Regular flu vaccination, hell yes. H1N1? Highly doubtful. I was sick during the summer; around the same time the first strain was going around; chances are I may I have already caught it.

It's not necessary, I doubt its safety, and I won't be taking it. Especially since the "Swine Flu" seems less dangerous than the seasonal flu by many orders of magnitude. Besides, I've only gotten anything similar to the seasonal flu 2 or 3 times that I can recall, and I would have a severe reaction to the shot every year if I followed the advice to get a shot.

I won't be getting it. I've never had seasonal flu over the years, but I've already been bowled over by "flu" twice this year. Once during the summer, which was quite mild, and again in September, which completely knocked me off my feet. I've probably already had swine flu.

I'll be getting it sometime in November, as I'm not preggers, I am not over 65, I'm not under 5, and I don't work in health-care. We'll be getting it later.

Evan Frustaglio was a sad case however. 10 mins after he had a bath he was dead. I'm guessing the bath was a murderer.

H1N1 isn't that bad; it's only a risk for those who already have health problems.

At the same time, there currently isn't enough to go around if everyone wants a vaccine.

Therefore, I'll pass so the needier can get vaccinated.

So far (as of last month) we had just under 1300 confirmed cases of H1N1 in Switzerland (7 million people).

Now, I don't know as much about the swine flue as I'd like to, but many of you mention your youth and your health as a reason to not get the vaccination. I'm not 100% sure, but isn't the swine flue especially dangerous for young people and not so much for the usual victims, the old and sick?

For the moment, I feel save. But if there are reported cases, for example at the university, I'm probably getting the H1N1 shot (not the normal flue shot), first for me and second for the people around me. I don't want to be responsible for wiping out the future intellectual elite. :)

IDK. From what I've heard, the 'swine flu', 'avian flu' and all the other magic flus combined have killed a lot fewer people than the regular flu does yearly.

So why bother?

I got it weeks ago as I belong to one of the priority groups ("health care professionals" - ooerr). Apart from my arm aching a lot more than expected for several days afterwards, and being quite cranky the day after I got it, no side-effects. The anti-vaccination people have been having a field day here as well, and one words sums them up: idiots. Their arguments generally range from the bizarrely stupid to the enigmatically imbecilic.

Just because lightning kills very few people annually doesn't mean that jogging during a thunderstorm is a sound risk.

Not saying that the risk in not getting the vaccine is equivalent to running around in a storm, just that the risk still exists and is much greater for people who don't take the proper precautions.
