So I am sure a lot of you might have heard of the greek nationalist party named 'Golden Dawn'.Since their rally about Imia was a few days ago I decided to make this thread and see what NS thinks of them.
They used to be a nobody party but now are the 3d one in charts witt 13% of Greeks voting for them and the number keeps growing. The top place is a struggle bewteen SYRIZA and New Democracy with 20%

Personally I support them.I disagree with some of their nazi approaches but overall it is a party Greece desperately needs and I would vote for them.

So what is your opinion?

Nationalism is as pathetic and poisonous as tribalism, but occasionally useful if you want to manipulate people large scale.

I don't think they should be banned, but what little I have read about them makes me inclined not to support them. Immigration issues aside, it sounds to me like they'd immediately remove Greece from the EU/Eurozone, and I'm not an economist but I think re-adopting the drachma while you still hold your debt in Euro is not an improvement over the current situation.

Question, was this party involved in the prior Greek Civil war.

I don't know much about Golden Dawn, but if it breaks the hyperliberal monotony of the Euro political scene, I welcome it. The US needs a nationalist party badly.

Oh don't worry, the Tea Party will fill that niche. They seem to be absorbing all the other questionable content from the Republicans. Kind of cleansing in the long run I expect.

If such a party took power here, that would give me the right and the duty to organize the armed resistance.

Golden Dawn did not exist prior to 1980s and it only got popular in the last 2 years

How are you going to resist something that is not attacking you?

By force. Have you not heard of such a concept?

Ok so hypotheticly such a party goes to power and you,for some reason, think that is threatening you. What kind of resistance by force will you do? Arm a bunch of people and start shooting GD members? And after that what will you do?

That's a weak argument. Lots of extremist parties were elected 'democratically'. That doesn't make resistance less justified.

I see your point.I just want to see what these 'rebels' would accomplist by 'resisting'

I'm not the one leading the resistance. I don't have the experience to make such decisions. If the leadership of the opposition is competent, I'm saying I'd willingly join them.

Thirded.

Either way, they have a whole 18 seats in the Hellenic Parliament and one municipality that has a leader from that Party. I don't see the imminent threat.

Needed to save Greece from Islamic Facism and being overwhelmed with non-Greek immigrants which will destroy their proud culture.

Greece (and all Europe countries) need to leave the EU.

Quite. They've gained some temporary popularity due to the economic crisis, but it'll be dead by the end of the decade.
