I only watch NOS, really. Hehe.

Though, I occasionally watch CNN and BBC.

Oh, right. And, yeah, Fox is bad. I know it is mainly for this reason.

I don't think Fox is too bad during the daytime when they're just reading headlines; it's at night when the talking heads come out that things really start going south. But that's pretty much all the news networks.

Though we're all overlooking the one thing bad about Fox News: they abbreviate words on the ticker like it's a telegram and they're paying by the letter. :p

Local or Timezone? 12, 24, 16, 32, 10 or 20 hour days? Is it this time just because everyone agrees or because we are told?

Fox News is an embarrassment. It proudly dedicates itself to contradicting its own slogan. It cynically spreads its schizophrenic doctrine throughout its audience while butchering actual news in order to turn them into anti-liberal talking points.

Fox News is 90% opinion, while the actual news are minimal and mostly false or manipulated to suit their opinion. To make things even more revolting, they live in a vacuum that is also and endless cycle of repeating their own biased news, without ever checking other sources. The textbook definition of intellectual masturbation.

I've seen horrible, truly horrible news stations in my own country, but nothing as shamelessly cynical, disingenuous and downright idiotic as Fox News. Argentine Public Television, at the very least, keeps its fanatical bullshit for a 2 hour long segment at the end of the day, instead of repeatedly punching our heads with it over and over and over all day long.

A more reliable news source? Let's start with the BBC.

Maddow is the only intelligent person on either channel. O'reilly could be bright if he had a little more intellectual honesty.

I once saw Bill O call NPR a "leftist Jihadist network." Even the FOX anchor he was talking to was like "Uh, no. Just because you don't agree with something doesn't make it Jihadist."

And for a brief moment, there was sanity in the echo chamber.

I try and watch Fox & Friends every morning, with a side of jelly toast (mmm) and O'Rielly at 7 PM.

Granted, he is clearly not "fair and balanced," but he's not that bad.

Is he?

Answer #1: FOX is only good for local news. Their commentators will do anything short of murder to support the Republican Party line, including lie, cheat, and blatantly invent facts. They spin facts so fast that tornadoes can't keep up. I can't get more than 5 minutes in before becoming disgusted and changing the station.

Answer #2 (better sources): BBCA is fairly unbiased, at the very least you don't have to be on guard all of the time. CNN is good only for breaking news and generic stories, but they can be trusted in that regard. To be honest, your best bet for good, factual news is to read articles or watch segments from many different sources, and see what details they have in common. Be very hesitant to trust any single source.

I like NPR and BBC for the most part. My homepage is google news, so if something catches my eye I'll read about it from any number of sources but I tend to be more skeptical when getting news from sources I'm unsure of.

I'm not sure if it was FOX, but a few US TV interviews I watched were just terrible.

"Welcome to Fox News! Here's a guest! What do you think about xyz?"
Either "Damn Muslim Polish Mexicans taking our Americanness!"
Or "Well, this is a highly intriguing topic, but-"
"Time for the break!"

Seriously, there were so many breaks you couldn't get any of the interviewees opinions beyond basic respones to questions.
