I know Catholics use it as an excuse for believing in literal transubstantiation, despite the wine not tasting of blood or contain haemoglobin or blood plasma, the bread not tasting of flesh, neither looking like what they should, and lacking the DNA of Iesus Christus.

I thought it was spelled Ieosus?

Yeshua (Hebrew equivalent) > Ίησους/Iesous (Greek) > IESVS/Iesus (Latin) > Jesus (English)

There are a number of scientific facts mentioned in the Quran actually, most famous perhaps, among others, is the Quran's explanation of how the human embryo forms in the womb, another that comes to my mind is how the Quran spoke about water being the building block of life and that it's presence in each and every living being. The latter is a fact humanity was ignorant to a thousand and a half years ago, and we ourselves didn't prove it until over a thousand years after the Quran said it.

Ah, so your 'scientific miracles' are just the texas sharpshooter fallacy.

Last time I checked, Carbon was the building block of life. Oxygen, Hyrdogen, and Nitrogen are great, but it's hard to do much with out Carbon.

I'd also love to see this claim of embryo formation in the Quran...

The entire thing was stolen from the Greeks anyway.
"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman

Well, if you don't figure it out by my flag, I am a devout Christian. My denomination is Baptist. I firmly believe in creationism (old earth, though). And for the most part, believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible (as most of it is easily understood if you think about the meaning of the text).
Pro - Christian-Judeo values, gun ownership, Zionism, free-market, social conservatism.

Anti - Atheism, radical Islam, abortion, gay "rights", liberalism, communism.

Split on these issues: Illegal immigration, socialized healthcare, welfare.

Call it what you wish, and believe in it as you wish. I don't care.
Fact remains the Quran said it over a millennium before humans proved it. That's something you can't change or do anything about.

Humans do NOT form in this manner:

Sura 22:5 says "We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then from a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed ... and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term, then do We bring you out as babes." Sura 23:13-14 repeats this idea by saying God "placed him as (a drop of) sperm (nutfah) in a place of rest, firmly fixed; then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood (alaqa); then out of that clot We made a (foetus) lump (mudghah), then We made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then We developed out of it another creature." 75:38 also says man becomes an alaqaand 96:2 says we came from alaq.

No, that verse speaks about how God made Adam alone, not all of humanity.
The formation of the embryo is described in the Quran.
Feel free to Google it and find out.

I've read the Qur'an.

Besides, the first man certainly was not made of clay.

Yes, and the bible says that God raised the mountains from the ground (which is true), but while impressive it by no means means the bible is literal truth.

Really, you take it mostly literally? I bet that there are plenty of portions you take figuratively. Adam and Eve perhaps? Babel? Creation? "This is my blood"? Genocide? Massacres, Infanticide?

True, but while we have proven the the Earth is not 6000 years old, we have yet to prove a scientific fact in the Quran that is false.
Difference is that The Bible is the story of Jesus, inspired by God, and written by humans like you and I. So there is room for errors.

Islamic belief states that the Quran is word by word from God himself. Take from that what you wish.

Which Bible... also don't you find it a bit shady that Mohhamed heard the word of God alone (and maybe a few of his friends?).... but that's not for this thread.
