Maybe that's true, but still, why are you messing with that guy. The "shut up" was your fault.

I didn't insult his religion, I was pointing out that it's not very smart to believe something just because you told to believe it, growing up.

Telling someone to shut up is just being rude, and not Christ-like.

I'm not a stereotypical one, though.

The first is "because I thought it was my only choice." They're similar but not the same.

I'd like to hear your rationale as to why those are inherently bad reasons.

I'm not bashing or attempting to start an argument. Just curious.

1) If you think it's your only choice, then you've probably been forced into it, and that's never good.
2) If you believe something because you were told to believe it as a kid, then that eliminates the entire purpose of making choices for yourself.

If you truly believe it, even if your parents told you it, that means you did make that decision.

I am a Southern Baptist mainly because I truly believe in the theology. A suppose a secondary reason would be because I was raised a Southern Baptist and that everyone where I live is a Southern Baptist. I guess I am a Protestant fundamentalist like everyone else in my community and we are proud of it.

Trust me- this is an age of social media and information distribution. I actually now a little about the Koran, even though I was raised in a Christian home. I'm not one of those Christians that bashes everybody else without previous consideration.

I suppose that's solid rationale; having the opportunity for personal choice is always important.

That kind of education is difficult. Most, if not all education always has some kind of latent function.

After I actually learn about the religion, I won't bash but sway away from the religious ideas. P.S.; the Koran has some scary parts to it...

True. Especially in Kings, Chronicles, and Obadiah (from a non-christian standpoint). And Revelation is creepy to everyone.
