But it is possible to look at earth and see that no Godly entity resides there.

If your religion believes that a Godly Entity resides on the Earth and then, you had searched the whole Earth and saw no God, then your God is not real. But other religions like Christianity does not believe in a God that lives on Earth, but rather, a transcendental God in a different dimension.
