Through my random philsophical musings in front of my back window, I realized that the nature of religion is actually bad for morality, thus strengthening my resolve to be irreligious.

Don't really think a belief in God has more basis than a belief in unicorns. Religions themselves are a product of a society and naturally reflect that society's moral values. You can believe in whatever you want, but I'm against imposing your dogma on others.

Don't really believe in a god, but strongly believe in taoism, It seems to acuratly depict how life functions without telling you to do certain things. I'm not really to religious.

Well, I am the personification of my religion.

Indeed, I am my religion because I am likely the only being in existence who believes exactly the way I believe and views the world's existence exactly the way I do. I mean, clearly the way I see things is the most logical way for me to see things. 8)

In regards to a more fitting understanding of the OP, I believe the way I do because of my experiences in the world. I am a Christian and I believe that not only is my understanding of Christianity the most logical belief system but it is also the one with the most purpose and joy for my life.

And in the 5th through 12th-century Mediterranean the alternatives were better how, precisely?

I await enlightenment.

Well, the Slavic pagans of the north were rather benign as well.

No. Just some fire giants.

If Thor promised to get rid of all the ice giants, and Drizz't Do'Urden actually did get rid of all them, does that mean Drizz't is God?

The Manichaens (spelling?) weren't to bad, and most of the gnostic sects were pretty docile. The fratecelli were pacifists, although slightly later. Ultimately the docile religions didn't last very long though, as they were quickly wiped out.
