What if they're someone who would like an opportunity to go to college and have a chance to be successful in life, but lost the genetic lottery and can't afford school?

In response to OP: I'm also enlisted in the US Air Force. Recently graduated from BMT with the 326th TRS, and from Electronic Principles class at Keesler with the 335th. Currently in an avionics class for the F-16 with the 365th at Sheppard, because a course for RPAs, my real airframe, does not currently exist.

Serving your countryvolunteering to summarily execute innocent civilians is not worth doing to get an an education (which, by the way, is not a right).

That is by definition Treason, Treason during a time of war is punishable by death. The only reason he hasn't been executed is because we know he is a nutbag and do not want to punish him for problems in his head. Well I mean I personally would shoot the man myself, but the US military has decided to show mercy towards him.

I volunteered for no such thing. The oath I, and every other US service member has sworn is as follows:

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Being ordered to kill noncombatants would constitute an unlawful order, which the individual on the receiving end would have a responsibility not to follow.

As for education not being a right, it should be. Anyone that wishes to spend the time to better themselves should have the opportunity to do so. That having a government allows for this makes it preferable to the anarchist hell you're advocating.

Sheppard, heard that's a party base for tech school...sounds like fun!

I think you're thinking of Keesler. Keesler is the fun one. Lots of stuff to do, not too far from New Orleans. Sheppard is in the middle of nowhere in northern Texas. People bitch about how there's nothing to do here, but it doesn't seem nearly as bad as people make it out. Of course I'm here til mid june, so my opinion might change later on.
