There is a ton of leftwing garbage, bullshit and disinformation regarding the US military wantonly killing civilians.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The US military has literally spent trillions of dollars developing tactics, strategies and weapon systems specifically designed to significantly reduced civilian casualties.

Indeed, no nation in the history of modern warfare has done so much, to save so many from violent death that the US military by introducing smart bomb technologies to the battlefield.

We could have bombed Iraq and Afghanistan into the per-Cambrian age with dumb iron bombs dropped from B-52's on the cheap without a single US casualty and still accomplish our primary mission to remove these despotic governments from power.

Instead, in a supreme effort to save civilian lives (not all innocent) from death, the US military has spent hundreds of billions on weapon systems and training that is singularly designed to serve this selfless end.

The UK does the same thing as do the Aussie and Canucks. They represent the most civilized and humane military forces the world has ever known.

Jeez, secular leftwing governments in China and the Soviet Union murder tens of millions of their OWN people and those on the left are silent -- but the US military kills some civilians in a combat zone adjacent a legitimate target or serving as cover and concealment for the enemy and they become apoplectic.

This is the definition of grand hypocrisy.

99% of those civilian deaths were by islamic butchers.

Moreover, there were a helluva alot more deaths under Saddam:

From a moral standpoint, empirical evidence shows that the removal of Saddam has resulted in a net savings of over 450,000 lives:

Citing casualty figures of 110,000 Iraqi deaths during the 8.5 year war that equates to approximately 13,000 deaths per year during the US occupation. Note that these numbers are dropping significantly since the Surge and they are likely to drop to a latent level before the US withdrawal provided the Obama/Biden administration does not screw things up (Iraqi Body Count, 2011).

During Saddam's reign over 1,600,000 Iraqis died violently as a result of his policies over a 24 year period that equates to 67,000 deaths per year! I'll do the math for you. 67,000 – 13,000 = 54,000 x 8.5 = 459,000 lives saves as a result of the US action to liberate Iraq (http://www.moreorless.au.com/killers/hussein.html

Sorry to push any buttons but I do not currently, however many of my friends currently do. Two are serving in the Marines as Infantrymen, and another three are on their way to doing TOW missle. I was going to join, was looking at communications (Radio) but basically I got enrolled behind my back. So I'm looking at going for it after this semester. Until then, I'm gonna have a couple empty houses and pets to look after.

HA indeed, the Army is built on boredom and finding creative and productive ways to deal with boredom. I became a master of dominoes on my last deployment because we would literally sit there in our little connex/platoon office watching the paint peel away when we're not on mission or PMCSing our vehicles.

1st Lt. USAF

Logistics.

I never make a big deal about it. It was a period of shame for me. I'm not proud to have participated in the slaughter of innocents. Upon witnessing the military-industrial complex and the massive expropriatory measures foisted upon the American public, I could not help but recoil in utter disgust at my profession.

I come from a proud family of military men. Marines, Army Air Corp, and Navy all the way back to the War for Southern Secession. Those relatives still alive are pleased with my decisions and accept my pity graciously. My Uncle said, " I had to watch myself butcher 3 Vietnamese before I discovered that I'd given my humanity over to the gov't."

My father had to lose his kneecap to a stray insurgent bullet, get discharged and shipped back home, get arrested on child abandonment charges (he never paid my mother child support - the Marine Corp protected him as far as they could), and come face to face with men behind bars being treated like animals before he caught on. Then he realized who the real criminals are.

I'm not proud of my voluntary internment. I'm not a proud supporter of the troops. I pity them. One and all. They are made into murderers at the behest of a criminal gang in DC.

My soldiering is inherited also. I wanted to be like my father and grandfathers and grand uncles. Warrior chiefs before them etc. My race even! I fought blindly mate, I followed orders and the objective was paramount in my life at that moment. I prided myself on my intelligence, leadership and courage which I drew from my ancestors when I needed it the most but when my daughters were born mate all that went out the window.

I think I stood back and started putting things in a different perspective and my motivation to risk my life for an ideal that really didnt make sense began to dawn on me. Here I was in the guise of a defender defending people who didnt want me defending them. Here I was fighting an AMERICAN war filled with lies and intrigue and I was perpetuating death because of it.

So I left the army at my first opportunity. My life makes more sense now arguing with my girl twins :)

Would I fight again, If my country was actually invaded by a foreign army hell yes otherwise no :)
