Wrong on both claims.
Dutch and German are related and they do share similarities. Not enough to be mutually intelligible, but the relation is there.

With regard to Dutch and German people being able to converse with each other in their own native language: It's not only in Limburg. It's also in some places where they speak Low German. I was in Munster, Germany once and I could understand the local dialect.

Well, Low German and Dutch, being descended from Franconian and Saxon respectively, do come from the same sub-family of West-Germanic, so they are very similar, Dutch and Standard German are a little more distant, but still quite closely related.

Completely fluent in English, here. I've got a few years of Latin under my belt, but far less than I'd like. I am mostly conversational in German (Standard High German), and can read it to a degree of fluency. I have enough French to get by with, but that's really not much.

In the future, I wish to cement my knowledge of German and French, then go on to learn Castillian (Spanish), Arabic, Greek, Russian, Welsh, and Norwegian, with others in the future. I'll end up needing a lot if I do decide to go into linguistics.

German, Greek, English, some French. Have been learning Spanish for the past 1,5 years, since I'll move to Spain this September. Looking forward to a lot of cursos intensivos in Madrid. Hopefully, I'll have developed some decent fluency until the end of the year. Planning to learn either Italian or proper French afterwards.

Thai is my native language (that mean I understand Lao as well) and I speak English well enough, of cause. Reading this thread make me want to getting my ass off to learn Deutsch, I do like German children's movie a lot.

English - Proudly, my native language
French - Took a year in school, then did some self teaching. I can ask my way around town if needed.
Russian - I know the alphabet, the sounds, and very basic vocab.

Meh. Is HTML a language? It seems to be lacking the equivalent of verbs if you ask me. That's why you need Javascript.
