On a semi serious note, because where else is this going to come up...
You know who doesn't deny the holocaust? Germany. Seriously, I grew up with jokes about Germany pretending that the first half of the twentieth century didn't happen, etc. But when I went to Berlin...man, they wear that shit on their sleeve. Not only are they up front about what they did, but they detail the exact way they went about it. They do not make excuse one for the whole thing, just say, "Yep, we did this totally fucked up thing and it was completely fucked up." As if it is important to them to recognize their mistake so they know what it looks like and never, ever do it again. It's not even like they wanted to make amends for it but acknowledge that in a lot of ways they cannot.
It was seriously awe inspiring. They have turned places where German citizens said "no, not here, not these people" into shrines to their better selves, and noted places where citizens said, "Right here, those people right over there" as their badges of shame. To be that upfront about a relatively recent embarrassing history, man. It was something to behold. I felt bad that what I really wanted to see was where my Bus came from...
