Well in a constitutional monarchy the stability of the Crown acts as a buffer against possible extreme political actions by government. In a sense, the monarchy can, under a proper constitution, actually be the final safeguard of democracy.

But that is beside the point.

I'll put my strong opposition to any form of monarchism to the side for right now. That arguement does not work for them however, as the indivivdual in discussion does not value democracy. Considering their opposition to constitutonal monarchism while still supporting monarchism in general, we can only presume they are talking about regressing hundreds of years into the past to the horrors of absolute monarchism.

I'm not sure if human rights are the biggest concern to someone who considers atheists to be 2/3rds of a person.

That he gave that answer is enough of a indication how much consideration should actually be given. I mean, look at that exchange and tell me that a serious argument is being made.

I just think it is funny that he thinks so highly of the Holy Roman Empire or Tsarist Russia.

The HRE could not rule itself. And the Russian system was so backwards and authoritarian that Tsar Nicholas II literally spent part of his day reviewing requests for divorce by common peasants.
