Stormtroopers would kick ass, simply because they have superior armor, weapons, and they have support from the Galactic Empire's Navy. I have played various Star Wars games, and the stormtroopers kick ass in each of them, despite being portrayed as weak in the movies.

Their staves were apparently unable to be cut through by light-sabres, though.

Hence why they were a threat, as opposed to not.

A stormtrooper would still win, even then. The stormtooper has better range, a stronger weapon and better use of tactics.

In this fight, the Brute would fire from the hip while either standing in the open or running at the enemy screaming, and would be promptly gunned down by the stormtrooper from behind cover.
