The second amendment does not give you the right to whatever weapon suits your fancy. I am a gun advocate, but there's a difference between sport and just flat out unreasonable. Even if the supreme court rules that I'm no longer able to give my opinion, because they disagree with it is, is constitutional, it isn't constitutional. The Utah Sheriffs' Association has issued fightin' words to President Obama. In a stern letter, the organization hints they would go to war against the federal government in the event their citizens are denied their right to bear arms against criminals and "tyrannical subjugation." The organization urges the government to "make no mistake … we will enforce the rights to our citizens guaranteed by the Constitution." In conclusion, the letter states: "We, like you, swore a solemn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and we are prepared to trade our lives for the preservation of its traditional interpretation." And there we were thinking New Hampshire was the "Live Free or Die" state.

I am completely in agreement with the sheriffs of my state. Obama, remember: it was the states that came first, not the Union.

Remarkable how like Protestants interpreters of the Constitution are. One man twists an article to fit his interpretation. The other twists it the other way. Unlike Christianity, though, in American democracy the one who has the final word is the one who can have you arrested and/or blow to smithereens: the government. But since Presidents, senators, reps, and judges can change radically from year to year, so can the law.
