Anybody who makes Glenn Beck look like a respectable guy and makes Sarah Palin look less like a fundamentalist clearly doesn't deserve the audience he manages to attract.

Savage is the worst of the lot of them and I would advise and conservative and Christian to distance themselves as far away from this sexist, homophobic, racist, and bigoted fear monger. I would express my full thoughts on this man, but I would have to use words and metaphors that wouldn't be appropriate for this forum.

I don't know what's more disturbing, the fact that he's allowed to broadcast his messages of hatred, or that he has a large enough audience believing his every word.

Sorry, but I won't do that.

Why? Do you like having a bigoted extremist speak for you and turning people's perception of regular Christians to that of fanatical extremism?

Sure, if you want to put it that way.

Well, being a Finn, I didn't know about him before I came here, but I file him to the ''Crazy Yanks''-category.
You didn't tell me there was going to be math-Mike Krahulik AKA Gabe, after finding out he had to do math in Dungeons & Dragons, also my reaction finding out that I had to do math in most of the storefronts.

Well, since Michael Savage is a Jew, Nazi would not necessarily be an appropriate label for him... Neither he nor his listeners are Christian either.

I don't use this word very often, but he's an evil human being. He's obviously either a sociopath or someone in a tremendous amount of pain who has learned to cope by spewing his vile on everyone else before he can get hurt. Either way, he needs to be off the air and getting help.

My beliefs preclude me from condemning anyone or writing anyone off, and I wish sincerely for his enlightenment and liberation---but until then, no one needs to hear his hate.

Pretty much this, although I don't think anyone's trying to take his freedom of speech away in the first place.

Disagreement =/= annihilation of right(s) to speak your mind.

I don't understand how Savage can keep his show on the air when he has the incredible arrogance to insult almost all of his callers, even some who come on to praise him.

Conservative Alliances wrote:He takes things to an extreme, but overall I am indifferent. I agree with him on some things and I disagree with him on some things. But, this is the price of the freedom of speech. You have to allow anyone to speak their mind regardless of if you agree with them.

Any time there is a criticism of someone, especially someone with a show or some other mouthpiece, someone always says something like this as if it has some relivance, which makes me think that people really don't understand the concept of 'freedom of speech.'

No one, as far as I can tell, is even implying that the government take him off the air and prohibit the broadcast or utterance of Micheal Savage and/or his ideals. And that is the relevance of 'freedom of speech.'

Freedom of speech does not guarantee you a venue. It only prevents the government from baring you.

By extension, as long as your not petitioning the government to silence someone, you are not infringing on freedom of speech when you implore advertisers or tv stations to not give their time or sponsorship to someone. Again, freedom of speech does not guarantee someone a venue, only the right to use that venue should they gain access.

Freedom of speech does not protect you from criticism. In fact, freedom of speech was put in place to protect criticism specifically. To call Michael Savage an asshat is not to infringe on his freedom of speech. Rather, it would be an infringement on freedom of speech and an affront to its intent to suggest that because of freedom of speech you cannot call him an asshat.

So, unless you're seeing someone I'm not suggesting that the government intervene on the matter of Michael Savage it is not neccisary for you to pat yourself on the back about acknowledging 'freedom of speech.'
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Not even the people on Fox News are as extreme and as bigoted as Savage. I'm all for freedom of speech, but what Savage does is an abuse of free speech when you consider what he says regarding Muslims, immigrants, homosexuals, liberals, the disabled, and even women. He doesn't even give his callers a chance to get their points in before he shouts insults at them and tells them to get AIDS and choke on a sausage.

I'm surprised that he hasn't been kicked off more stations than he has already.

I love when conservatives break this line out. Anyone who doesn't like one of their bulldogs is suddenly "against freedom of speech", as if I don't have exactly the same freedom to call him an asshole.

I was reffering to the people that think he should be taken off of the airways just because of his beliefs. I do not care if he is criticized, I just care if he is suppressed. It has nothing to do with him being right-wing, either.

Then you should look up and read CNToaN's post which explains why anyone petitioning to take him off the airways is exercising their freedom of speech, not suppressing his.

So, before this thread I had no knowledge of him other than his name. So I'm going to go look him up.

Wow. Seems like a huge asshole. Also, funny bit of information, he wrote a book in 1980 called Savage's Herbal, which advocates the medical advantages of smoking weed.

I trust the "racist" part is because of his comments about illegal immigrants?

I suppose the NSG approved answer should be "bomb him from space" 8)

I really don't give a damn about him either way. Some things he says make sense, others are insane. Like most "Media Personalities" he's a mix of things.
