So are we going on all medical illnesses? Even those that don't cause or have the potential to cause people to "whig" out? Or just the more serious mental illnesses? Mental illnesses as defined by the American Psychiatric Associationor or the Vatican?

See you should've said that in the first place, I think that's a stupid idea anyway not all mental illnesses are going to cause people to want to kill others. And it's fairly typical belittling of a large section of the population and just perpetuates a stigma with these people as though they should be shunned from society and are a threat to it.

Because the media, except for Fox News and a few other outlets, has an unequivocally anti-gun slant. This deludes people into thinking that you can't step outside in America without having an AR-15 rammed down your throat. The bottom line is that people will always be dangerous and, of course, we have cultural problems to tackle. The media and government are looking for a scapegoat.

Under normal circumstances, a mass shooting would be considered headline news.

Applying labels like "evil" muddies the water. People kill other people, absolutely, and guns make it so much easier. With a hammer, you have to get up close and personal, but a gun lets you stand off a way and still kill. And with so much less effort. Modern conveniences are wonderful, aren't they?

Guns might not be evil, but evil people having guns is the problem, so which part in that equation do you feel like taking out? Because I, for one, don't think you could ever decipher perfectly who the people are that will use it to kill others, and those who will use it to defend themselves.
