Barack Obama: 4 Years In Review

Postby North Stradia » Sun Jan 20, 2013 12:00 pm

Obama was just sworn into his second term as President.

I think this is a good time to review what he has done over his past four years.

I think he broke a lot of his promises. He campaigned on ending the wars, yet we are still very much a nation at war. He has also ignored his promises to shut down Guantanamo. I'm happy he finally came out and supported gay marriage though.

What do you think?

You got a Messiah option? I consider that a joke option besides the Bonobos one.

Ignored? I was under the impression that Congress stopped him from shutting down Guantanamo Bay by collectively refusing to house the prisoners there anywhere else.

Considering the mess he inherited from Bush, I think he did a very good job with the economy, gun violence, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. A solid 9/10

He did issue an executive order, afaik. No clue how the thing is still running.

Bad president, typical statist, I prefer bonobos.

Could you add the true Moderate Conservative?
a left social libertarian (all on a scale 0-10 with a direction: 0 centrist 10 extreme)
Left over right: 5.99
Libertarian over authoritarian: 4.2,
non-interventionist over neo-con: 5.14
Cultural liberal over cultural conservative: 7.6

You are a cosmopolitan Social Democrat. 16 percent of the test participators are in the same category and 5 percent are more extremist than you.

I think he did a bang up job. Because of him, I can now pay for law school and not give an arm and a leg, and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Bill helped my mom get a job for the first time in 16 years, since her illness.

Well, it's too bad for you that simply every single political leader in the world is a statist then, that must be depressing for you

Yeah, but then a significant number of the charges of failure that are levelled at Obama can be directly attributed to the GOP's obstructionism.

History will probably be kinder to him than his current critics. On the plus side he didn't start any stupid wars. However his first term was stymied by an intransigent Congress. This will remain the case. He might be a good leader but he will never be able to achieve the great reforms of previous Democratic Presidents.

IIRC Congress blocked any money from being used to close it down

He's no Reagan, and far too left-wing for my tastes. But he could have been worse. 5/10.

Indeed, he's nothing like Reagan, as he's sent 0 weapons to Iran and funded 0 terrorists in Latin America.

He gets a 7/10 for me, he would probably have got more if the GOP were set to a mode other than OBSTRUCTOBSTRUCTGERRYMANDERFILIBUSTEROBSTRUCT.
Don't be deceived when our Revolution has finally been stamped out and they tell you things are better now even if there's no poverty to see, because the poverty's been hidden...even if you ever got more wages and could afford to buy more of these new and useless goods which these new industries foist on you, and even if it seems to you that "you never had so much" - that is only the slogan of those who have much more than you.
