No. It isn't. The right to control one's body is at the core of the debate.

People in comas may (eventually) come out of the coma and have (usually) got family and friends that care about them (not to mention property - which banks and governments care about). People generally view the cost of keeping them alive as smaller than the cost of letting them go, therefore.

However, with an unborn fetus, the cost of letting it go is almost zero (well, not counting your own personal morals) when compared to the enormous cost to the mother/parents of bringing up a child (both financial, emotional, and physical).

As unfortunate as it may be to say it... it's pretty much just basic economics.

Why is the fetus in the woman's body? Did it steal its way in their with no action on her part?

Also, why is it that the being's "lack of sapience and sentience" is ignored and another's isn't?

The cost of bringing up a child is made up easily if you raise a half-decent child.

What other being lacks sapience and sentience that is being kept around, whilst also abusing a person's right to bodily sovereignty?

Bold claim.

Not really. A fetus can't survive on its own. Technically, it is in a parasitic relationship with the host creature.

That said, I tend to argue for abortion on social grounds. If a woman doesn't want a baby, why would you feel entitled to force that on her, knowing fully the pain you are forcing her to go through, the money you are forcing her to spend, the years of her life you are forcing her to throw away?
