And this conservative mindset, this reluctance to ever ADAPT to modern times is making me sick down to the core.

The US is nothing to envy. Once the greatest nation, but it's living in the wake of its past, desperately trying to hang on to the 'good old days'

This might be a blunt statement, but it's pathetic.

I'd say the view that Britain lead the world fell in most people's eyes after the Suez Crisis. We accepted it fairly quickly, since we were a world encompassing superpower only 20 years earlier.

You know, I'm sure if I dug around I could find people saying exactly the same in the late British Empire. And the late Roman Empire. You know what all of those people had in common? They were horribly, horribly wrong. As wrong as you are, in fact.

Actually they will. The value of their mags just went up. I remember buying Black talon rounds for my Glock17. Two boxes at $20 dollar each. When they were taken off the market, I moved to Gold Dots (same price) and sold my talons at $100 dollars a box.

Thats not the point. Of course they are effected by it from an economical perspective because the vendors and sellers are taking advantage of the hype (rightfully so) to raise prices. The point was in regards to the government attempting to take away the clips or somehow tax you to death for owning them.

It depends on what specific field you are interested in. Name one, and I will produce an example.

Gun control being claimed a mark of a modern civilization does hold some pertinence to my question

The answer depends on what metric you are going by. Pick one, any one (or indeed, any set of different metrics) and I'll produce an example.

Thats just avoiding the question.

Since the question at hand is Gun control as it relates to a modern society, use that as your 'metric'. What country is more modern and advanced that implements a gun control policy superior by your standards to that of the United States.

Crime. The purpose of gun control is to prevent crime. I picked a country in western Europe that had a short name. Pick any other and you'll get the same (in fact, most of them are a lot better than the UK in most respects).

Your source reeks of shit. This is now officially the dumbest article I have ever read, you must be really desperate.
What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive? Or if during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

Yep, the old UK. Modern compared to USA standards? Most of their buildings are 300 years old minimum, and they heat with boilers and radiators like we DID in the 50's and 60's. They're still on the Pub rules of the 1940's (or they were when I was there last). The standard of living was almost on par with ours, but not quite. Things might have changed some, but not that much.
