And more to point, this is what us lawyers figured out a loooong time ago. Do you think I know every damned thing about every damned case that ever comes up here? Do you think the majority of the time when I post some legal vactoid on NSG I carried that particular piece of knowledge around in my head the entire time?

Knowledge, REAL useful, applicable knowledge, isn't about knowing specific things all the damned time. It's not about recalling facts, it's about knowing facts exist, and how to find them.

I went without internet for three days once. I nearly went mad. There are so many things I know, but I don't know the specifics of. It is a weird feeling to suddenly not have all the knowledge in the world available.

I believe the warning labels on basic goods should be removed. Like do not stick your hand in blender while operating. If you cant figure that out then you probably dont need your hand anyways. My friends are the opposite. We'd be sitting around in the bar after class, and when a dispute about some fact came up, someone would be put upon to turn on their laptop and look it up. Usually me, because my laptop had the longest battery life. Smart phones are a real blessing.

Being British, I'd expect people to know key events in British history, as well as stuff I learnt in primary school, e.g. The Battle of Hastings, the reign of Henry VIII, the English Civil War. I have Asperger's Syndrome, which means I get extremely agitated if others around me don't know as much as me.
