I've heard of white commercial hunters killing millions upon millions of bison for their hides and tongues, but never heard of any native tribes doing so in any significant numbers. You got a source?

Let me rummage for one, it'd be in a bunch of books I have; I can recall reading it several times. This was after the NA's got horses, mind you.

I'm not terribly fond of they way they do this. It's wasteful and inefficient, and hunting pretty much any species to such low numbers is shortsighted. They should just capture a few live ones and start up a large breeding program. I'm sure there are plenty of Chinese who'd be willing to work on a shark farm.

They get their shark fin soup, and the sharks get to restore their populations. Most people should find this agreeable.

Unfortunateley sharks are now on the endangered list, we do have seabass though. Mutated seabass...they are very ill-tempered.
