10/16. You can live :P

Anyways guys, it's playoff prediction time. Here's how this game works: you predict who's going to win in the current round! There are 15 maximum points, and 8 of them are up for grabs in this round. So here goes!

Chicago v Minnesota - despite the signing of Suter and Parise, I think that Chicago will win, because they're just a much better team.
Anaheim v Detroit - the Red Wings took seventh in the season, one of their lows, and they were at risk of missing the playoffs altogether. They are trying to play, but not fit enough to beat Anaheim.
Vancouver v San Jose - the Sharks might win this one. Niemi has been phenomenal *knock on wood* and that will be the X factor.
St. Louis v Los Angeles - the Kings are starting to find a rhytm, and are back to having two solid goaltenders, and the old Stanley Cup team back in action. St. Louis, not so much.

Pittsburgh - Ottawa - do I even have to? The Pens will sent the Sens packing, and Canada will have a riot :P
Montreal - New York - it's a miracle that the Isles made the playoffs, but they won't pull another one.
Washington - New York - the Caps play with a lot more energy, and energy's crucial when it comes to the playoffs. Expect lots of Tortorella bitching.
Boston - Toronto - true to tradition, the Maple Leafs will suck, and their team value will increase by at least five percent.

Jocular code for my picks:
If Cali Team, then win;
Else, top team win;

Now, I want to poke fun at Canada :p

What is up with your team names? First you have the Canadiens. What the fuck? I mean even the Americans don't have the Americans as a hockey team. And if the Canadiens wasn't Nationalistic enough, you guys have the Canucks. On top of that, you have a team named for the only leaf on your flag, the Maple Leafs. And then you name a team after politicians, the Senators. Seriously Canada? Canadiens, Canucks, Maple Leafs, and Senators. What's next, naming a team after companies that pollute? Oh wait - that'd be the Oilers. Gotta love that one: "hey, if you don't lose to us, we'll spill oil all over your shore!" And when a team moves in, you call it after a popular Military Industrial Complex weapons, the Jets. Damn, your names are just jetting. And I'm guess you subconsciouly knew that you're going to be burned by a Russian for those team titles, so you named another team, the Flames. Oh Canadiens/Canucks/Maple Leafs/Senators - you guys are funny! Please, don't riot next to my house :P

The toughest ones on each side for me to predict are OTT/MTL and SJ/VAN. They could go either way in my mind.

[ Chicago Blackhawks ] vs. Minnesota Wild
Detroit Red Wings vs. [ Anaheim Ducks ]
[ San Jose Sharks ] vs. Vancouver Canucks
[ Los Angeles Kings ] vs. St. Louis Blues

New York Islanders vs. [ Pittsburgh Penguins ]
Ottawa Senators vs. [ Montreal Canadiens ]
New York Rangers vs. [ Washington Capitals ]
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. [ Boston Bruins ]

Also, here's the voting tally thus far, I'm keeping it open until the first puck drop of the first playoff game:

Chicago: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox
Minnesota: Not feeling the love yet, like a Parisian who's just been Sutered :P

Anaheim: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox
Detroit: Ouch! Guys it's Detroit, no love? :P

Vancouver: Quebec
San Jose: Shofercia, Lesbia, Qazox

St. Louis: NSG's predictions have them singing the Blues :P
Los Angeles: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox

Pittsburgh: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox
Ottawa: What? You didn't expect NSG to vote for politicians, did you? :P

Montreal: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox
New York Islanders: They've been voted off the NSG Island! :P

Washington: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia
New York Rangers: Qazox

Boston: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox
Toronto: True to tradition, the Maple Leafs... :P

My reaction to these:

Chicago-Minnesota: Obviously. Not so surprising. Definitely going to be a blowout.
Anaheim-Detroit: Uh... Not surprising. Red Wings aren't what they used to be. Only Datsyuk and Howard still floats them.
Vanouver-San Jose: Hm... Interesting. I think it all depends on how Niemi, Kesler, Schneider and Sedins could play. Nucks screwed up early sans Kesler. They screwed up last time because a Sedin was injured(badly).
St.Louis-LA: I guess I'm not the only one who'd have Quick and/or Bernier over Brian Elliot.....

Pittsburgh-Ottawa: Not surprising. Ottawa fought well in the regular season, but still needs Spezza and possibly a goal-scorer to keep the things competitive. They need CASH line very soon, or else, they won't make it far.
Montreal-NYI: Surprising. Not even great jobs from Tavares and Nabokov can keep the Isles float, I guess. Or maybe Therrien just coaches really well.
Washington-NYR: Interesting Matchup. Surprised that Qazox voted in favour of NYR(probably because of King Henrik and Nash+Callahan, I guess) but he's Qazox. Obviously.
Boston-Toronto: Obviously. Unless Reimer pulls off Dryden-like numbers and Kessel and Kadri Gilmour-like numbers, It'll be very hard for them.

You're right! Damn, NHL didn't change the chart until after I posted the line up.

So apparently it's Pittsburgh v New York Islanders and Montreal Canadiens vs Ottawa Senators. I'm not changing my bets. Guys, what about you? Especially Qazox, since he was the only one to bet on the Isles, are you staying by your bet, or would you like to change it?

I used pronouns until the mods made using wrong pronouns warnable, so I use names instead; if you see malice there, that's entirely on you, and if pronouns are no longer warnable, I'll go back to using them

Also, here's the voting tally thus far, I'm keeping it open until the first puck drop of the first playoff game:

Chicago: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox
Minnesota: Not feeling the love yet, like a Parisian who's just been Sutered :P

Anaheim: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox
Detroit: Ouch! Guys it's Detroit, no love? :P

Vancouver: Quebec
San Jose: Shofercia, Lesbia, Qazox

St. Louis: NSG's predictions have them singing the Blues :P
Los Angeles: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox

Pittsburgh: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox
Ottawa: What? You didn't expect NSG to vote for politicians, did you? :P

Montreal: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox
New York Islanders: They've been voted off the NSG Island! :P

Washington: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia
New York Rangers: Qazox

Boston: Shofercia, Quebec, Lesbia, Qazox
Toronto: True to tradition, the Maple Leafs... :P

My reaction to these:

Chicago-Minnesota: Obviously. Not so surprising. Definitely going to be a blowout.
Anaheim-Detroit: Uh... Not surprising. Red Wings aren't what they used to be. Only Datsyuk and Howard still floats them.
Vanouver-San Jose: Hm... Interesting. I think it all depends on how Niemi, Kesler, Schneider and Sedins could play. Nucks screwed up early sans Kesler. They screwed up last time because a Sedin was injured(badly).
St.Louis-LA: I guess I'm not the only one who'd have Quick and/or Bernier over Brian Elliot.....

Pittsburgh-Ottawa: Not surprising. Ottawa fought well in the regular season, but still needs Spezza and possibly a goal-scorer to keep the things competitive. They need CASH line very soon, or else, they won't make it far.
Montreal-NYI: Surprising. Not even great jobs from Tavares and Nabokov can keep the Isles float, I guess. Or maybe Therrien just coaches really well.
Washington-NYR: Interesting Matchup. Surprised that Qazox voted in favour of NYR(probably because of King Henrik and Nash+Callahan, I guess) but he's Qazox. Obviously.
Boston-Toronto: Obviously. Unless Reimer pulls off Dryden-like numbers and Kessel and Kadri Gilmour-like numbers, It'll be very hard for them.

I just think the Rangers are a more complete team than Washington is, Ovechkin as dissapeared too often in the playoffs for me to take the Caps.

You're right! Damn, NHL didn't change the chart until after I posted the line up.

So apparently it's Pittsburgh v New York Islanders and Montreal Canadiens vs Ottawa Senators. I'm not changing my bets. Guys, what about you? Especially Qazox, since he was the only one to bet on the IslesRANGERS, are you staying by your bet, or would you like to change it?

Fixed. I'd take Minnesota over Chicago before I took the Islanders.

I hope the Isles come out and surprise everyone. I really do, or at least put on a good show.
