I was going to make a Cindy Crosby joke, but I don't know if it's offensive to Canucks and/or Pens fans :P

Is it?

So it worths. But I start to fear that guy's life now. If he gets several more concussions, he could die. I'm for him playing for just 4-5 more seasons before retiring. Even if he retires so right now, he will get into HHoF.

Meh. I don't like Crosby(a lot) and besides, I'm not yet a complete Canadian. After all, I only lived in here for 2 years and do not have Canadian citizenship yet.

Oh yes, all Canuck and Maple Leaf fans hate Crosby...until he helps the Olympic team win gold, then he's a national hero.

So much for consistency.

I lived in Australia when that happened, so I don't feel much connection towards him and his heroic contribution in the 2010 Olympics. And I didn't watch Ice Hockey back then. On Olympics, I only watched:
1) Women's Single, Figure Skating. Kim Yu-Na's gold medal-winning performance was spectacular!
2) Some Alpine Skiing(don't remember the categories though)
3) Men's Mogul

Not exactly to do with the NHL but...

CANADA BEAT THE USA IN THE FIRST GAME OF THE WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!

That was a very entertaining game to watch.

I have a question: what's more important, the Youth World Championship, or playing for your club?

I'd say that wherever the youngster can gain the most experience - that's what counts. We're not talking about the World Championships, that determine your country's hockey rating, or the Olympics, which is the Holy Grail of Hockey. We're talking about the Youth World Championships, which, let's face it, are primarily there to develop youth athletes.

Currently there's a minor scandal in Russian Hockey League, with the politicians, (for crying outloud guys, just keep your shit out of hockey, don't even get me started on the repeated crap that they've pulled at Vancouver,) trying to force Russian Star, Nichushkin, to play for the Russian Youth Team. Why doesn't Nichushkin want to play? Because he's already playing for Traktor, against Dynamo Moscow, in the Gagarin Cup Final, and doing a damn good job! If he was starring in a movie, or giving out autographs, or holding book signings, or showing off for the NHL scouts - yes, make him play. However, when you're playing in the Finals of the Gagarin Cup, a final that the politicians admitted was more important than the Youth World Championship, why?!

The second reason, is that Nichushkin could be taken up a spot of a potential player, that he doesn't need. Everyone in the Hockey World knows who Nichushkin is, (at least if you're following the Hockey Scouts, you should probably know the top ten,) so what is he expected to do in at the YWC? Win? I certainly hope he wins, for Traktor! In the Gagarin Cup! When Ovechkin was playing for Washington Capitals, no one expected him to show up at the World Youth Championships. And that wasn't even in the Stanley Cup semis!

The third, is that I don't view the Youth World Championship as a big deal. My scale: Olympics, World Championship/Stanley Cup/Gagarin Cup, Euro Tour. And then there's everything else. The guy's in the Gagarin Cup finals, and could make the Russian Olympic Team in Sochi. Where can he get the kind of experience needed to win the Olympics? Gagarin Cup Finals - yep! World Youth Championship? Nope. Playing a grueling playoff series is not the same as beating Team Slovenia 5-0.

So, what do you guys think? Also, link for the Russian readers: http://fanzone.khl.ru/news/21881/

Hmm... wonder if we can pay Andrew Ference to go beat the shit out of Chris Culliver for his dumb-ass ignorant comments.
