I would say keep playing in overtime like you said OR play twenty minutes instead of five before going into the shootout AND make the shootouts of five rather than three.

2 5 minute OTs, 1st OT has 4 players, 2nd OT has 3. If no goals after 10 minutes, then go to shootout.

I like shootouts. Also, I think there's an economic benefit to them, so that's one change I don't mind. And it's just for the teams who fail to win in regular time, so seriously, not seeing a problem there. As long as they don't make them mandatory in the playoffs, because I love the playoff games that go on for 120 minutes

But during a season game, I just don't see 120 minute games as worth the risk. Your players get tired, and you could end up losing the next three games because of that.

Also, speaking a bit on the financial side, do you guys agreed with Forbes' list? http://www.forbes.com/nhl-valuations/list/

Personally, I think that the Hawks, Oilers and Wings are worth more, while Coyotes are worth less. I think that Forbes knows that about Coyotes, and yet, are deliberately inflating their team price.

That said, there's a healthy overall growth of the NHL, with only the Devils being indebted, and the top 20 teams showing a healthy operating income. Yes, the Caps lost a mil, but they gained that back in property value increase. Ditto to Sharks. The Wild, well - what can I say about the team that signs Parise and Suter to massive contracts? Probably some management issues there.

The bottom ten need to do something. Ducks can still be saved where they're at. So can practically every other team. The problem I'm seeing is, of course, the Coyotes. That team needs to move to Canada. But the rest can stay where they're at.

Last night against the Lightning was ridiculous, since they gave up the lead with only fifteen seconds remaining in regulation, only to go on to a terrible shootout. And now tonight, they blow their regulation lead against the Panthers with just twenty-seven seconds left and drop it early in overtime.
