While I don't think I have a violence fetish like a disturbing large amount of MMA crossover fans to hockey.. I will admit a good fight is a great release. When there's context of course IE somebody got hooked or grey-area hit, or the goalie was attacked... or Rafi Torres is on the ice because that little shit needs a beatdown in every period of the game. Random "just cause" fighting on the other hand is idiotic.
I don't think guys need to go drop the gloves for things like hooks, or slashes. If a guy gets hurt, or someone throws a dirty shot, and especially if someone goes after the goalie, a fight is perfectly legitimate. Otherwise there are more appropriate ways to get back at the other team. Like scoring goals, or laying out legal (crushing) hits.

Is this the most OT Stanley Cup thus far? I like it, makes it bearable for me

Bruins definitely had signs of weakness, and the Hawks exploited them. However, Crawford is just a sieve on his glove side, and the Bruins now it. I can't see why Chicago try out Emery in net for once; he was 17-1-0 in the regular season. Why not go for it?

I disagree with that a bit. Sometimes you need to fight at the end of the game to get your frustration out, and as long as no backshots or cheap shots are involved, I'm ok with it. And sometimes you need a fight to shift momentum for your team, and that's a valid tactic.

Re the fighting in hockey/violence. Of the major team sports played in the U.S./Canada, hockey does the best of the players taking care of their own within the rules of the game. A guy slashes your goalie? Ram him into the corner. Guy flops? Check him a bit more. Guy injures a teammate? Beat his ass next shift.
Sean Avery is a perfect example. If he is on your team, you love the fact he gets under the skin of the other team, and if he's not, then you want him dead. But the vast majority of things he does is 100% in the rules. If more players were like Avery, hockey would be a better spectator sport than it is already.

Nobody likes Avery. His own teammates didn't like him. The Stars voluntarily dropped his sorry ass, because they disliked him so much. Because he was such a distraction for their team. He was a detriment, plain and simple.
If more NHL players were like Sean Avery, I would stop watching NHL hockey. There is no place for that sort of shit in the game, and anyone who claims differently either doesn't play hockey, or is Avery-esque themselves, which is nothing to be proud of.

What shit exactly? Other than the stupid waving of his stick in a goalie's face, everything he's done has been within the rules. And I have played hockey, and I don't like him either, except that he'll try anything to win.
Back on the main topic: This is going down as a all-time classic series, yes?

On the main topic: yes. It is.
On Sean Avery: go have a look at his wiki page. And if you have time, go watch some video of the way he played. He was a cheapshotting, shitty little douchebag. He got off on being a dick to people. He spent as much time mouthing off, throwing cheap shots, and being an all around asshole, as he did actually playing hockey.
