Weapons you own, general weapons discussion

Postby Uawc » Thu Jan 03, 2013 5:09 pm

DISCLAIMER: BY POSTING ABOUT YOUR WEAPONS IN THIS THREAD, YOU ASSERT THAT YOU LEGALLY OWN THEM.
Thank you. Don't want to be breaking any rules in here.

Do any of you own any weapons? I have a sizeable collection of combat knives, a war hammer, a sjambok, and a couple tactical markers. Firearms are a little expensive to own and shoot here in Canada, as are bows, so while I intend to build a firearms collection, and perhaps get into archery as well, that's something that will happen later on.

Guns, knives, swords, bows, whatever you've got, let's talk about 'em! Pictures for bonus points.

Particularly if they're distracted by, say, a set of uncovered mammaries, preventing them from dodging the incoming pan in time.

A bolt-action 30-06, a bolt-action .22 LR in the gun cabinet at my folk's house, and hickory pick handle that keep around just in case.

That would definitely increase the surprise factor. Why might the mammaries be in sight before a tactical frying pan strike?

I do not possess any firearms or blades of particularly dangerous size.

I have a few household items (and not-so-household items) that could serve as improvised weapons, though, like a 12-pound iron shot that could quite easily kill someone if you dropped it on their head.

Excluding all the metal and glass in the kitchen that are potential weapons I have a machete, a hatchet, and an aluminum baseball bat off the top of my head.

Don't know how to upload images but came across this while cleaning a rifle so I thought only fair to post this:
1)Century Arms Vz 2008 sporter (7.62x39mm), semiauto version of Vz 58
2)Century Arms C93 rifle (5.56x45mm/.223), clone of German HK93
3)Century Arms Yugo M59/66 (7.62x39mm), Yugo copy of SKS
4)Arsenal SLR-107CR (7.62x39mm), I fancy it an AK-104 clone, Bulgarian built
5)Browning BAR (.270), just a semiauto hunting rifle, a real tack driver
6)Weatherby Orion (20 gauge), nice engraved, great for shooting clays
7)Yugo K98 (8x57mm), mix of German, Yugo parts, military surplus
8)Mosin-Nagant M44 (7.62x54R), best Mosin money can buy IMHO
9)Carcano M91 (6.5x52mm Carcano) it was $100, but it shoots so whatever
10)Springfield Armory XD (.40 S&W) go to gun for self defense
And that's all I got for ya. Hope I contributed to the discussion.

Since I copped out in the last thread on this, I guess I'll share this time around.
-Three Springfield 30-06s (one in left-handed because my pop was weird-handed. Haven't sold it because of the emotional significance)
-A Marlin lever action 30-30 (also my father's, but there's no handedness issues with it so I can still use it, woo!)
-A Model 870 and a Model 1100 Remington shotgun.
-A couple of .22s in bolt, pump and semiauto configurations, along with a revolver chambered in it for short-range golpher-ing.
-A Winchester .300 Ultra that I use as my antelope rifle (Despite what people say, I have come to realize the -06 can't really do everything)
-A Ruger .270 (rifle I bagged my first deer with)
-Two Colt AR-15 "Sporter"s, one from the early 90s my father picked up before the ban went into place and one I bought a few years ago to have for myself before he passed on. I should probably sell one right now while everyone's freaking out over a new potential ban and prices are up. But it's so fun to shoot whenever I think about it I can't bring myself to do it.
-A Norinco SKS I picked up alongside the AR-15 (guy I bought them from sold them both for cheaper than the two individually would be and I had the spare cash at the time). I've actually never even fired the thing, just stuffed it at the back of my safe for the last four years and brought it out to clean at the end of each hunting season. I may have to rectify that sometime soon (preferably when 7.62 prices come back down to non-insane levels)
-A S&W .500 "BFR" (Biggest Finest Revolver) that I use as my bear pistol when I'm out hunting for smaller game.
-A .357, .38 Special, and .45 1911 that belonged to my father that mostly act as my range-babies, though I've carried the 1911 a few times back when I had my CCL.
-A CZ-75 I bought when I went to get my CCL for use as my concealed weapon.

Then I've got a small crossbow that I used a little back in my High School days for varmint-hunting (I don't think I ever did hit anything with it, but it was kinda fun). And I've got a cheap Wal-Mart compound bow that I practice with now and then but I am TERRIBLE with a capital SUCK at hitting anything with it, so out of respect for the woodland critters I don't hunt with the thing.

Edit: Also, since the thing is unbelievably broken due to poor manufacture, I have the components to a Lorkin .380. But it is so broken it is unsafe to fire and is mainly just my physical reminder for gun safety and being sure of quality before buying.

I don't know, but statistically, 72% of all frying pan strikes occur in the vicinity of uncovered or otherwise compromised mammaries.

It's an interesting, if not yet fully explained relationship.

Are we talking shooting range conditions or shooting off hand?

Being a decent shot at 50 yard while shooting off hand is an accomplishment. At the range, well, it can be an embarrassment.

Range conditions. I use the excuse that my scope is broken, but the truth is I just don't get enough opportunities to practice.
