No, in a democracy, people select other people to rule them- in Britain, it is the MPs, in America, the Senators and Representatives, etc. etc.. An anarchy is where the individual have full power over himself.

Have you ever heard of direct democrasy?
Also,anarchy is a stateless society,that doesn't mean it's a chaotic or lawless society.

I have never said that a hypothetical individualist anarchism would devolve into chaos or lawlessness.

There's also direct democracy.

The point- if people are wise enough to choose other people to rule them (who are equally divorced from the issues that surrounds the common man), why shouldn't they rule themselves?

In a direct democracy- why should a body of people make all the decision, when you can rule yourself? In short, why should power be external to you if you have the ability and competence to govern yourself?

You misunderstand what democracy is about. And when a person says that the common people are weak and incompetent, usually says something about that person.

It is, however, prone and near defenceless to invasion.

Yeah, that's true ...the Free Territory only lasted for three years.

No, you have yet to answer anything. I just accept the premise that people are not wise enough to rule over themselves, and so, support an absolute monarch.

If people can't rule themselves, why are there so many successful, modern, liberal democracies?

They can't- the 'successful, modern, liberal democracies' are only gathering of group of similarly interested people people who are elected by the mass, and use the government to advance their own interests.

I wouldn't call them successful, they're still better than royalist France though.

I'm an anti-theist, yet even I realize that state enforced atheism is no different than state enforced religion.

You see, when you come and tell your happy, self sufficient and successful populace that they are doing everything wrong and that they can't decide for themselves what is best for them, they generally won't be very happy.

Not everything from the revolution was bad- the breaking of Catholicism's hold, for example.

If you believe that the people are uneducated, unintelligent, and unable to decide what is best for themselves, are you willing to accept that this applies to you too?

State-enforced Atheism is the only method to cure the population of the poison of religion.

They can't decide for themselves, that is why they have a government in the frist place.
