Social control based on the irrational and needless shaming of people for dressing differently than what the trends dictate.It's as fascist and conservative as anything else.Why not just let people just however the hell they want?

I think the people in this thread are taking a very narrow view of fashion. Fashion can be many things, there are many different types of styles and notions that fly in and out of common appraisal as time goes by. It doesn't have to be expensive, or conformist. Personally I don't think you should be made a slave to the ideas of others, and seek to establish and evolve your own fashion as you see fit.

I've never cared about what's fashionable. Most of what's fashionable is simply terrible and anyway there is way too much conformity in society these days.
