This is an abhorrent manifestation of religious fundementalism. The fact that Muslims are doing it only reinforces for me the notion that Islam is frozen in its worldview. Poli made a good point about the advances and achievements of Islamic scholars in the centuries prior to the Crusades, but since those wars they have rejected almost everything from the West as somehow suspect (with notable exceptions, such as weaponry and demagoguery). The funny thing is, they won the Crusades and eliminated the Crusader States, but at what cost? They've been outstripped in technology and in the advancement of the human condition by the West.

These Somali fundementalists are abusing women there. I'm at a loss what to do. Do we take the Ann Coulter Option, invade their country, kill their leaders and convert them all to Christianity? I find that distasteful. Do we shake our heads and ignore the situation as being one we can't do anything about? This also sucks. What's the middle ground?

There might actually be a glimmer of hope for the Horn of Africa, in the break-away province of Somaliland, which is trying to form a functioning state. Perhaps some help there?

Goddamn, now I'm hungry. I want to go get some pizza. And yes, we should crusade against dominoes. It is cardboard.

The only big pizza chain I like really is Papa Murphy's take n' bake. Partly because you can get them to give you a really really thick yummy crust.

Speaking of which, I feel that crust has often been much maligned, when it in fact is a worthwhile, delicious part of the pizza and contributes to its wonderfulness as a whole.

I dont think it is Islam that is the problem. The problem is that these dirtbags are Islamic. Dirtbags will use whatever they need to use to justify dirtbag-edness. Just like Christianity wasnt the problem in the Salem Witch Trials, just that the Dirtbags were Christian.
